The Experience And Enlightenment From The Implementation Of The Internationalization Strategies In Indian Institute Of Technology

The university Internationalization is an inevitable trend for the development of higher education.At present,as for the study of university internationalization,the Chinese scholars mainly focus on international experience for reference to foreign university;At the same time,the object of study mainly concentrated on the developed countries,such as USA,UK.Thus,There is a serious shortage of the research on the country.The paper chooses the representative example,Indian institute of technology,as the research object and analyzes its international development path,so as to have certain significant reference for the construction of "first class universities and academic program" in China.According to western famous scholar Hans Van Dijk and Kess Meijer’s “The Internationalization Cuba” as the basic analytical framework,combined with basic dimensions in Jane knight’s international building analysis framework,this study reveals the internationalization development path of Indian institute of technology.In view of the fact that the Indian institute of technology is composed of a number of branch schools,the paper selects madras,which has a strong academic strength,long origin and relatively complete data,as a case study.The paper found that madras adopted different international development strategies at different stages,and gradually promoted the internationalization process of the school.At the beginning of the school,the "following strategy" was adopted to accept the aid from the developed countries as the "recipient",and quickly established the academic management system of the school.After the 1980 s,the school played a major role in international activities,and the consciousness of international subject was significantly enhanced.In this stage,the author defined it as the "pursuing strategy".In view of its own factors such as environment,conditions,the school hasn’t reached the ideal —"all-sided internationalization”.With the help of formulation and implementation of international strategy,Indian institute of technology develop quickly and finally become a famous university of science and technology in a short time.Its successful example can provide some useful lessons to the internationalization of China’s universities.At the same time,in the process of internationalization,the Indian institute of technology also faces some difficulties and challenges,such as intelligence outflow,government invention,etc.,which can also offer much enlightenment and vigilance to the university internationalization in our country.
