The style of learning is the key representative of university spirits and serves as the base on which institutions of higher education stand and as the soul for their development,as it decides directly the quality of talent cultivation.The construction of style of learning is,therefore,a vital channel through which universities conduct moral education and cultivate students.The development of the internet has changed the learning and life style of contemporary college students,diversifying channels of learning on the one hand and leading many college students addicted to the Internet and the spread of an impetuous learning atmosphere,on the other hand.It is therefore imperative to strengthen the construction of style of learning.This study,with a focus on undergraduate students,adopts both qualitative and quantitative approaches to probe into the status quo and existing problems of style of regional universities in respect of style of learning in this Internet age.Based on in-depth analysis of the affecting factors thereof,it attempts to explore effective approaches to and methods of strengthening the construction of style of learning at higher education institutes.Initially,this study defines the connotation and constituents of the style of learning of higher educational institutes,colleges and universities,contending that this construct consists of learning purpose,learning attitude,learning quality and learning behavior.Of them,learning quality comprises curiosity,interests,initiative,persistence and concentration,imagination and creativity as well as introspection and criticism;learning behavior includes investment in learning,learning habit,learning strategy and method.At the same time,it sorts out the historical evolution of policies of China regarding the construction of style of learning.Secondly,questionnaire survey and interviews were conducted to explore the status quo of the style of learning among undergraduate students at higher educational institutes located in a region.Findings indicate some problems presented as follows.1)the social attribute of their purpose of study is low,in contrast to high personal attribute,2)Albeit positive attitude to study,they attached insufficient attention to academic integrity,3)They are engaged in surface-level learning,learning quality demanding improvement,4)Their learning behaviors require improvement,and 5)The prevalence of the internet has exerted negative effects on their study.Factors that affect their style of learning were also deeply analyzed from four dimensions,university environment,undergraduates themselves,teachers' style of teaching and social milieu.Focusing on the problems discovered regarding the style of learning among undergraduate students of regional higher educational institutes,this thesis presents finally some strategies or suggestions for those institutes to construct style of learning.They include: 1)providing the guidance for college students in respect of value system and helping them to set up correct learning objective and attitude,2)strengthening the management of style of learning and regulating learning behaviors of college students,3)integrating online and offline teaching and improving the quality of college students,4)promoting the construction of style of learning via the qualified style of teaching,and 5)improving online learning platforms and building up a internet-based learning community of college students.
