Since ancient times,reading has received attention as an important way for people to acquire knowledge.Reading is of vital importance to individuals,nations and countries.For the normal undergraduates who are about to be teachers,extracurricular reading will not only contribute to the expansion of their own knowledge reserves and the improvement of their cultural literacy,but also indirectly affect the reading status of the next generation of students,and even the overall growth status.Therefore,it is necessary to separate the normal undergraduates from the group of college students as a separate research object to investigate and study their extracurricular reading status.This thesis used literature method,the questionnaire survey method and the interview method comprehensively to carry on the research.Based on the sorting out and analysis of related literatures,the dimensions of this thesis were determined according to Zimmerman's theory of autonomous learning and the results of previous interviews,and the corresponding questionnaires were compiled.A total of 1010 normal undergraduates from 2 subordinate normal universities,3 provincial normal universities and 5 local normal universities were investigated from seven aspects of motivation,time,place,content,habit,guidance and effect of extracurricular reading.The thesis found that there are five problems in the process of extracurricular reading for normal undergraduates: the cultural value of extracurricular reading is obscured by the value of the instrument;the extracurricular reading time is extremely poor;the content of extracurricular reading is not reasonable;lack of habit of independent thinking and expression in extracurricular reading;external support for extracurricular reading is insufficient.In view of the problems found in the above investigation,this thesis made an in-depth analysis of the causes of the problems,and put forward reasonable improvement strategies in combination with constructivism learning theory and reception aesthetics theory.This thesis mainly consists of four parts.The first part is the problem,including research background,domestic and international literature review,research purpose and significance,core concept definition and theoretical basis.The second Part is research method and research process,including literature method,questionnaire survey method and interview method,and the specific application process;the third part is the main part of the research: including the analysis of questionnaire survey data and interview results,as well as the main problems and reasons in the extracurricular reading process of normal undergraduates summarized from it.The fourth part is the countermeasures based on the main problems and reasons of normal undergraduates' extracurricular reading.
