Reading as an excellent cultural tradition has always been valued by the Chinese nation,and its charm is unique.Especially in the contemporary era,reading has a profound impact on the improvement of students’ self-cultivation.The real Chinese education should lay a solid foundation for the students to continue to study in the future,which is also the concrete embodiment of the "unity of tool and humanity" of the Chinese subject.Extracurricular reading is an important part of Chinese teaching,which plays an irreplaceable role in enriching students’ spiritual world and improving their aesthetic ability.Carrying out extracurricular reading in junior high school is not only an organic supplement to in-class reading teaching,but also an important way to improve students’comprehensive Chinese quality.With the further deepening of the new curriculum reform,extracurricular reading has attracted extensive attention from the country and society,and more and more educators have realized the importance of carrying out extracurricular reading in Chinese.Located in YanJi city in the northeast border region of China,it is the capital of YanBian Korean autonomous prefecture.In 2013,the city’s middle schools successively carried out extracurricular reading activities under the guidance of the Chinese curriculum standards for compulsory education(2011)(hereinafter referred to as the new curriculum standards)and other documents.In the past few years,through the careful guidance of the school and relevant departments,the continuous efforts of Chinese teachers,through the study,students in reading speed,reading ability and other aspects have made significant progress,and in the national,provincial,state(city)and other levels of reading competition results.At the same time,there are still some problems in the school,teachers and students,which lead to the unsatisfactory teaching effect of reading,and the quality of students’ extracurricular reading cannot be guaranteed.Therefore,in this paper,it is necessary to develop the school extracurricular reading present situation investigation and interviews,to collect and organize the survey results,at the same time of summing up successful experience,find out the existing problems,and puts forward opinions and suggestions for related problems,aiming at raising the level of extracurricular reading an own contribution.This paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction.Firstly,it points out the value of the problems in this paper.Secondly,it expounds the research purpose and significance of this topic and the research status.The second chapter mainly expounds the theoretical basis of extracurricular reading in junior middle school.The main theoretical basis for reference in this paper is the new curriculum standard,"the zone of proximal development","achievement education" and "language education".The third chapter is mainly to YanJi No.12 middle school after-class reading basic situation investigation,first introduces the basic situation,teachers and students from the school,the second is introduced in the basic concept of the extracurricular reading instruction at the college,the specific content and teaching methods,and three aspects of the basic situation,the last of the current through the development of extracurricular reading effect are introduced.The fourth chapter is mainly to YanJi No.12 middle school in extracurricular reading,teachers and students and other problems are summarized in the school.The fifth chapter puts forward corresponding opinions and suggestions on the problems mentioned above,aiming at better helping schools to open extracurricular reading activities,so as to improve students’ extracurricular reading ability.
