As the foundation of Chinese traditional family intergenerational ethics,filial ethics clearly stipulates that children should be obedient,respectful and supporting and so on when treating their parents.With the development of social politics,economy and culture,the relationship between children and their parents has changed.In the new social environment,the duties of children have added new contents.In 2003,Taiwan issued the family education law,which clearly stipulates that filial education is a part of family education,which has aroused wide attention about filial duty、filial education in Taiwan.At present,China has entered into an aging society.Due to China’s special national conditions,the elderly population is too large for the government to provide for the aged in the whole society.Therefore,in the future,providing for the aged in China is still dominated by family,and children are the main undertakers of providing for the aged.Contemporary college students were born in the era when the one-child policy was implemented across the country.The state stipulates that each family can only have one child.The phenomenon of fewer children leads to the increasing pressure on children to support their parents.College students are about to step into the society,achieve economic independence,and truly assume the responsibility of supporting their parents.College students’ perception and practice of being children have a direct impact on the future situation about providing for the aged of Chinese family.So how do contemporary college students know and practice their duty as children?In terms of literature analysis,most of the existing literatures come from Taiwan,and the relevant researches in mainland China are rare and mostly theoretical.This study divides the connotation of college students’ filial duty into three dimensions: life care level,emotional comfort level and growth development level,In addition,aquestionnaire about the perception and practice of college students was compiled.Questionnaire data and interview data were collected from freshmen to seniors of an university,Through the analysis of the differences in the demographic variables of college students’ filial perception and filial conduct,the level of college students’ filial perception and filial conduct,the relationship between college students’ filial perception and college children’s filial conduct,this study draws the following conclusions: female college students are perform better than male college students in filial perception and filial conduct;there is a new intergenerational relationship of cultural feedback between college students and their parents.;college students and their parents have great difference in values and there is a generation gap phenomenon;college students still attach great importance to the role of children and abide by the intergenerational family ethical relations;college students have a more equal status with their parents,and the filial duty from their love for their parents.Contemporary college students’ filial perception and filial conduct have obvious characteristics of The Times,The filial duty of college students is an important part of intergenerational family ethics,college students’ filial perception and filial conduct reflect the intergenerational relationship of families:College students still have dependence on their parents;The peer group of college students has an influence on the intergenerational relationship;Cultural feedback has become an important part of the intergenerational relationship;The new generation relationship emphasizes love and equality;There is a generation gap between college students and their parents.
