With the development of today's social economy,the requirements for scientific and cultural knowledge are gradually increasing,and STEM(the English acronym for science,technology,engineering and mathematics)education as a kind of educational concept originated from the United States which has always been concerned and studied by educators in China and around the world.So far,China's research on STEM education has gradually expanded from higher education to basic education and early childhood education in primary and secondary schools.The scope covers students' STEM education methods,teachers' STEM literacy and STEM education teaching activities.Based on the STEM education concept,this topic designs the chemistry teaching design based on STEM education concept for the content of the current middle school chemistry textbook,and conducts practical research.This article is divided into six parts:The first part is the introduction,combined with the background of the topic,puts forward the research problems.By searching the data,combing the literature,analyzing the research status at home and abroad,summarizing the research purpose and significance,determining the research ideas,and selecting the research method,it gives this study foundation.The second part expounds the basic concept of STEM education,explains the basic principles of STEM education,and then according to Yakman's STEM pyramid method,combined with his own cognitive level,selects the human education version of high school chemistry elective 3 "Material Structure and Foundation" and Elective 4 "Chemical Reaction Principles" textbooks and the intersection of biology,physics and mathematics,and classification.The chemistry classroom teaching plan under the STEM education concept was designed to provide guarantee for the later practical research.In the third part,according to the STEM education concept,the selection of 3 "metal crystal" and elective 4 "calculation of chemical reaction heat" two sections of the course design,highlighting the characteristics of chemistry classroom teaching design under the STEM education concept.The fourth part conducts practical research on the chemistry teaching design of STEM education concept,proposes the research purpose,selects the research object,determines the implementation process,controls the experimental variables,and carries out the teaching practice of the chemistry teaching design and the traditional teaching design under the STEM education concept.The experimental data was collected through after-school tests,questionnaires,and interviews.Through collation and analysis,it is concluded that the chemistry teaching design under the STEM education concept is feasible and effective.At the same time,it is found that the students have improved the acceptance of chemistry knowledge,and the interest and learning mode have also changed.The evaluation is also more objective and fully reflects the basic concepts and principles of the STEM education philosophy.The fifth part analyzes the inadequacies of this research and puts forward the prospect of the expected research.
