Since the 21 st century,it has been gradually discovered that the traditional way of teaching physics leads to a lack of complete structure and systematization of students' knowledge,as well as to a disconnect between physical knowledge and science,technology,social production and life,which can reduce students' interest in learning physics.In the context of the new curriculum reform,scholars,teachers,educational organizations,schools,etc.all over the country have proposed new ideas and methods for teaching physics in junior high schools.In recent years,the concept of STEM education has gradually come to the forefront of people's minds;STEM was first proposed and implemented in the United States,consisting of the English acronym for science,technology,engineering and mathematics,and emerged to break down the independence of disciplines to integrate these four disciplines and to train new types of people with innovative spirit and integrated practical skills.However,at present,most scholars are still focused on theoretical research on STEM concepts,and there are relatively few empirical studies.Based on the theoretical foundations of pedagogy and psychology,this thesis will use questionnaires,literature research and experimental research to conduct theoretical and practical research on the development of STEM-based physics teaching in junior high schools,with a view to helping junior high school physics teachers to better develop STEM-based teaching.This paper analyzes the current status of STEM research in China and abroad by reviewing the literature;elaborates the theoretical basis of STEM teaching in junior high school physics curriculum;analyzes the basic situation of STEM literacy of junior high school physics teachers in Nanchang by conducting a questionnaire survey on junior high school physics teachers;proposes strategies and principles for STEM teaching by combining relevant educational teaching theories and literature: designing project strategies that integrate STEM concepts,focusing on team communication and cooperation strategies,and improving hands-on strategies;the principles of student-and activity-centeredness,creating real-life situations,basing physics teaching principles,and cultivating creative thinking principles;on this basis,three STEM junior high school physics teaching cases are designed,and two classes with similar learning situations are selected in a middle school in Nanchang for a two-month teaching practice study.Finally,we summarize the relevant conclusions of this study: the teaching of junior high school physics based on the STEM concept can promote good teacher-student interaction,increase students' interest in learning physics,improve students' performance in physics and the overall classroom excellence rate,enable students to recognize the systematic nature of knowledge and improve students' practical ability;we reflect on the shortcomings of the thesis and look forward to further research on STEM teaching in junior high school physics that is worth exploring.
