The stage of middle school is a crucial period for physical and mental growth of adolescents.Therefore,it is particularly important to focus on their sense of life meaning.To explore the influence of parental psychological control and self-esteem on the sense of life meaning for middle school students,this research investigated the development features for sense of life meaning in gender,grade and class cadres among 680 middle school students from five schools in Zhengzhou;explored the relationship between sense of life meaning and parental psychological control,and studied the role of self-esteem among them.According to the study result,it combined with the cognitive feature of middle school students to intervene and upgrade the sense of life meaning by psychological activities course,and explored the impact of this course on the sense of life meaning.This study can enrich the local study of parental psychological control,self-esteem and the sense of life meaning of middle school students,provide the psychological basis for the education of sense of life meaning and promote the construction of harmonious self of middle school students.This study is divided into the following two parts:In the first study,to explore the relationship between parental psychological control,self-esteem and sense of life meaning for middle school students,a questionnaire survey including parental psychological control questionnaire,self-esteem questionnaire and life goal questionnaire was conducted among 680 middle school students.The results are as follows:(1)The sense of life meaning for middle school students was generally low.(2)There was no significant gender difference in the sense of life meaning among middle school students(p>0.05);For the aspect of grade,the sense of life meaning for students in Grade 9 was significantly lower than that of students in Grade 7 and 8(p<0.05).There were significant difrferences between student cadres and non-student cadres in the sense of life meaning on whether taking on student cadres(p<0.05).(3)The sense of life meaning for middle school students were significantly positively correlated with self-esteem(r=0.27,p<0.01),significantly negatively correlated with parental psychological control(r=-0.29,p<0.01),parental psychological control and self-esteem were significantly negatively correlated(r=-0.27,p<0.01);(4)The level of parental psychological control of middle school students to a certain extent can negatively predict the strength and weakness for their sense of life meaning(?=-0.39,p<0.001),the self-esteem played partial role in mediation between parental psychological control and sense of life meaning(ab/c=21.0%)In the second study,parental psychological control questionnaire,self-esteem questionnaire and life goal questionnaire were used.With 50 students in Grade 9 as the intervention group and 50 as the reference group,an intervention was carried out through the psychological activities course.The results showed that:(1)The scores of self-esteem and sense of life meaning in the intervention group were significantly different before and after the test(t = 2.949,p<0.01;t =-2.017,p<0.05).(2)The scores of parental psychological control,self-esteem and sense of life significance were significantly different between the intervention group and the control group(t =-2.201,p<0.05,t = 2.271,p<0.05,t = 1.986,p<0.05).This study draws the following conclusions:(1)The sense of life meaning for middle school students was generally low.The sense of life meaning for students in Grade 7 was the highest,followed by students in Grade 8 and Grade 9.The sense of life meaning for student cadres was higher than that of non-student cadres.(2)The lower the level of parental psychological control is,the higher the level of students'self-esteem is.In addition,the higher their sense of life meaning is.(3)Parental psychological control can not only have a negative effect on students' sense of life meaning directly,but also indirectly affect their sense of life meaning through the influence of self-esteem.(4)The psychological activities course can significantly upgrade the level of self-esteem for middle school students,and then upgrade the sense of life meaning for middle school students.
