Long-term care work exposes mentally handicapped family caregivers to problems such as heavy care burden, psychological stress, lack of social support, and urgent need for old-age care.It not only affects the physical and mental health of caregivers, but also threatens the lives of patients with mental disorders. In the process of practice, the author found that the physical and mental condition of mentally handicapped family caregivers is not optimistic, but some caregivers can withstand the pressure to return to the normal life track. This is resilience:The ability to overcome difficulties under strong pressure. The purpose of this study was to explore the effectiveness of group interventions to improve the level of resilience of mentally ill family caregivers and to provide an effective clinical intervention program for mentally ill family caregivers. This study is based on Kumper's theory of resilience of the“environment-individual interaction model" Through group intervention, the cognitive reconstruction of the mentally handicapped family caregivers, active response, improvement of the environment, plans and dreams are involved, and the potential of the caregiver is explored.Thereby improving their level of resilience, providing empirical support and practical reference for interfering with the level of resilience of family caregivers of mental disorders. This study used quasi-experimental research methods. After pre-assessment,16 mentally handicapped family caregivers were screened and divided into intervention group and control group:intervention group used group work method for intervention, and control group received routine visit service. This study used the Self-Resilience Scale(CD-RISC)and the Caregiver Burden Scale(ZBI)to measure the level of resilience and care burden of the intervention and control groups, respectively.Based on this, the research results are obtained and their limitations are analyzed to verify the effectiveness of the intervention model. Results have showed that there is a significant effect on the level of resilience of family caregivers who have mental disorders through group work.As the resilience of members of the intervention group increases, the burden on caregivers is also reduced.
