Research purposes The mental health of high school students has great influence on their personal development and the construction of spiritual civilization of the whole society.A large number of studies have shown that sports can not only promote physical health,but also have a positive effect on promoting people's mental health.This paper is based on the mental health status of Desheng senior high school students in Dalian Economic and Technological Development Zone,trying to find out the specific characteristics and general problems of the mental health of senior high school students.By means of experiments,the effects of extracurricular sports activities on mental health and its specific aspects were compared and analyzed.Research methods Literature method,through the collection,induction,analysis and summary of sports,high school students' mental health and other related literature,to provide a theoretical basis for the study;questionnaire measurement method,the use of Chinese and foreign commonly used Symptom Checklist SCL-90 to test the mental health of the subjects;experimental method,the experimental group for 12 weeks of sports,and before the experiment and the control group of the center.The physical health level was compared,and the various measurement data were analyzed by using SPSS statistical software.Results(1)According to the survey,19.27% of the subjects had mild mental health problems.Among the specific psychological symptoms,compulsion,interpersonal relationship,anxiety and hostility were the most common.(2)The mental health level of the sports specialty students in this school is significantly different from that in the third grade(P < 0.05);in terms of specific mental health symptoms,there are 7 items(times)showing significant differences compared with the second and third grade(P < 0.05).(3)After 12 consecutive weeks and 80 minutes of extra-curricular sports activities per week,the mental health level of students in the experimental group was significantly different from that of the control group(P < 0.05),and there were significant differences in hostility,anxiety and somatization.(P < 0.05).(4)After 12 consecutive weeks and 80 minutes of extra-curricular sports activities per week,the mental health level of the students in the experimental group was significantly different from that before the experiment(P < 0.05),and there were significant differences in paranoia,compulsion and hostility(P < 0.05).Conclusions(1)About 20% of senior high school students have mild symptoms of psychological problems.(2)The mental health level of sports students is obviously better than that of ordinary students.(3)Extracurricular sports activities have significant effects on improving the mental health of senior high school students.
