Comparative Study On Sino-US College Volleyball Institutional Culture

Due to the differences in national conditions and national cultures between China and the’United States,the formation of the volleyball sports management system in the universities of both countries was greatly affected.And the volleyball sports management system in Chinese universities has exposed major problems through a comparative analysis with American universities’.These problems have hindered the development of college volleyball in China.By adopting the methods of documentary,methods of comparative analysis,methods of case analysis,methods of logical reasoning and other research methods,this paper focuses on the volleyball institutional culture in Chinese and American universities and summarizes the characteristics of Chinese and American universities’ volleyball institutional culture.Then,in order to discuss the volleyball institutional culture in Chinese universities,this paper respectively analyzes the status quo of the volleyball institutional culture in Chinese and American universities.By comparing with the volleyball system in American universities,this paper tries to spot problems in volleyball system of Chinese universities and comes up with development strategies accordingly,thereby promoting sustainable development for the volleyball of Chinese universities,providing reference for the transformation from universities’volleyball management dimension to institutional culture dimension,and serving as the theoretical basis for further development of volleyball system in Chinese universities.Research result:Firstly,Different volleyball institutional culture in universities.The difference in national cultures between China and the United States affects the development of the volleyball institutional culture in both universities.Chinese culture tends to be "collectivism" and "harmoniousism".So it has the characteristics of nationality,historicity,and inheritance,etc.Under the background of the "the whole nation system",Chinese universities also have formed a volleyball institutional culture that unitary.The United States’culture tends to be"individualism"and"liberalism",and is often recognized as inclusive,aggressive,open,and innovative,etc.So the United States has formed its relatively rich volleyball institutional culture.Secondly,Different management system of volleyball teams in colleges and universities.Chinese universities generally adopt a "top-down"management institutional that basically relies on administrative management to manage,and there is no special supervision agency or related legal protection.American universities generally adopt the"government regulation separate from management"approach to the management of volleyball teams.Colleges have their exclusive departments in charge of sports and specialized supervision agencies,and they have the right to issue relevant laws or regulations.Thirdly,Different enrollment and management methods for college volleyball teams.Chinese universities do not have a uniform standard for enrollment.Generally,they have different cultural requirements for various levels of athletes when recruiting students and adopted different preferential policies.Additionally,there is no specific policy paper that stipulates the training time for volleyball players in Chinese universities,and the game basically adopts a centralized game institutional.Chinese universities basically have relevant preferential policies for high-level student athletes,such as academic performance or learning standards.Universities in the United States conduct strict qualification examinations for all athletes at the time of enrollment,adopt uniform enrollment standards,issue specific policy documents that stipulates the training time for volleyball players,and the game basically adopts a cyclical game institutional.Student athletes enrolled do not enjoy any preferential policies,and they must have the same test scores with the ordinary students.Fourthly.Different hiring methods for volleyball coaches in universitiesThe majority of volleyball coaches in Chinese universities are appointed by leaders.Basically,they are teachers with teaching tasks in school.Their main tasks are daily teaching assignment.While training volleyball teams is often regarded as a part-time job for them.The American college coaches basically are employed by the appointment institutional that coaches must gain job opportunities through certain competitions.Training volleyball teams is often considered as a full-time job for them.In addition,they do not have to undertake any teaching assignment but just need to devote themselves fully to the training and development of the volleyball team.
