Since the last 1980s, most western countries were exploring the way of education reform. Among them, the market mechanism was an important direction of this reform, and the Unite States was one of the typical representatives. Education vouchers issued by the government, the founder of a charter school, as well as the profit schools, gradually introducing market mechanisms to the field of basic education in all schools to form a competitive situation, promoting the reform of education and teaching in all schools, so as to achieve the purpose of improving the quality of education.With the deepening of China's reform and market reform of the Western countries, China also tries to introduce market mechanisms to the field of education in the educational reforms of recent years, and hopes to solve the problems by this way. However, the success of the reform has also brought new problems, such as educational equity, high tuition fees, which are all yet to be resolved.It is a good reference to China that the success of the United States to introduce market mechanisms into the field of education, and we will know the lack, and learn the valuable experience. This paper introduces the basis of market-oriented reform both in China and the Unite States, through the comparison between the two, achieving the purpose of improving our basic education.The paper is divided into four parts. The first part introduces the background of the basic education in the United States, and the reform initiatives, as well as the effectiveness of the reforms made to conclude. The second part introduces the main reasons, the effects and the problems of China's basic education. The third part of the introduction of market mechanisms in a comprehensive understanding of the two countries on the basis of basic education, the reform will be carried out, summed up the difference, resulting in a fourth part of the basic education reform proposals, such as narrowing the gap between school, promote balanced development of basic education; establishment of a fair competition mechanism. To promote the development of private education; correctly handle the relationship between efficiency and fairness; good grasp of the scale of efficiency and fairness and so on.The author hopes through to the introduction, the comparison as well as the thought about the China's and American basic education reform, can serve as reference for our elementary education and so on.
