| This thesis takes Hirsch and his core knowledge movement as the main research object and adapts the methods of documentary analysis and comparative research.This paper introduces Hirsch briefly and reviews the background and the main ideological framework of Hirsch’s educational thoughts.On this basis,this paper tries to evaluate the impact of Hirsch’s core knowledge objectively to the United State and other countries in order to provide reference for the development of basic education curriculum in our country.Hirsch is an American educator,literary critic,author,educational reformer and professor of English emeritus at Virginia State University.Because of his own educational and work experience,together with the educational fundamental problem that the United States has not resolved over the years,Hirsch raised the importance of cultural literacy on the basis of criticizing the existing educational idea in the United States,and then launched core knowledge movement focusing on core knowledge,including setting up Core Knowledge Foundation,writing Core Knowledge Curriculum and developing Core Knowledge schools.Hirsch’s core knowledge movement not only made significant progress in the United States,including improve the academic performance of American students and narrow the achievement gap,but also caused important repercussions in other countries.Although there are many different voices to Hirsch and his core knowledge,it still provides some reference for the implementation of our curriculum. |
