The Social Work Intervention On The Bad Emotional Problem Of Old People Who Lost Their Only Child

With the implementation of one-child policy in China,large amounts of Losing-single-child families have appeared and those elder parents who lost only child are deep in grief over lost child.Gradually,middle-aged parents became elders and many problems,such as diseases,loneness,and over-generation raising troubled them and made them worried,disappointed and sad.This piece of thesis attempts to explore the reasons that elders who lost only child produce negative emotions,analyze their non-rational beliefs from their perspectives and solve the problems that what social-workers can do to help transfer those elders' non-rational beliefs and relieve their negative feelings.By using qualitative research method,literature research,observation and interview,the research collected lots of related information about unhealthy emotions of elders who lost only child.According to all this information,we can analyze thoroughly the present situation,influences and causes of negative emotions of those elders and carry out intervention work towards them by using the method of case studies.Under the guidance of rational emotive behavior therapy,theory of social sustain networks and strength perspectives,we intervene the problems of related elders and help them relieve negative feelings,establish social sustain network and promote their self-confidence and ability to cope with sufferings from three levels.Based on deep interviews and case studies,this piece of thesis puts forward two key conclusions:the first one,the main reason of generating unhealthy feelings is the non-rational view toward losing the only child.The second one,the core action strategy of solving it is intervening the environmental system of those elders who lost only child.
