Since the 21 st century,the number of elderly people who have lost their independence has been increasing,and the population scale has been continuously expanding.Under the background of an ageing population,most elderly people who have lost their independence have basically become empty nesters in the true sense of the word.Social life and other spiritual and emotional needs and problems have become increasingly prominent.Although these issues are gradually receiving widespread attention from the state and society,the country is also launching corresponding social policies.Then,it provides pension protection and improvement for the elderly who have lost their independence.At the same time as the various pension insurance systems,the issue of basic material survival for the elderly who have lost their independence has indeed been resolved.However,the public should pay more attention to their spiritual and emotional needs and cultural and recreational needs.Through consulting the existing literature,this article has visited related families who have lost their independence and found that most of the elders with disabilities are suffering from emotional problems such as deep sadness and depression,social reintegration difficulties,and economic and life care.This case study uses cases as an example to use individual social work methods to involve the daily life of the elderly who have lost their independence,to help them find their own problems and needs,and to find their own advantages and resources.At the same time,they follow the society.The basic purpose of the work “helping others to help themselves” is to provide spiritual and emotional comfort and life support for the elderly who are not alone as guided by the theory of empowerment,the perspective of superiority,and Maslow's needs theory.Through research,it has been found that social workers can effectively participate in the mentally emotional world of indigent elderly as partners and companions,and provide assistance and comfort in accordance with their individualized needs,and apply professional social work methods.Skills to help them solve emotional problems.In order to help older people who are old to get older and settle well in their old age,this article also advocates community and corresponding pension institutions,the formation of professional social work teams and psychological assistance teams to provide them with spiritual and emotional comfort services,and calls on the whole society.Pay attention to the development of social work for the elderly and pay attention to the spiritual and emotional needs of the elderly.
