As the foundation stone of cultivating the talents and improving quality of the people,basic education is directly related to the future development of students.In order to promote the professional development of basic education teachers,many countries have made efforts to explore it.Among them,the American Professional Learning Community(PLC)is regarded as one effective way to promote the professional development of teachers.The American Teacher Professional Learning Community as one learning organization spontaneously formed on the basis of a shared vision by teachers' voluntary principle.Within it,teachers do cooperative learning in an atmosphere of freedom,equality and harmony to promote the professional quality of teachers.In the various stages of American education,the early and long-term development of the professional learning community of primary and secondary school teachers has matured and shown great values in practice.This paper takes the professional learning community of American primary and secondary school teachers as the research object,analyzes its connotation,historical development and practical operation,combines with the actual situation of our county,and puts forward some useful references for the development of the learning community of China's primary and secondary school teachers.First of all,the paper analyzes the concept,principles and characteristics of the professional learning community of American primary and secondary school teachers through using the literature method,so as to solve the problem of “what is”.Secondly,the paper sorts out the formation process of the professional learning community of American primary and secondary school teachers and summaries the development stage of its formation through using the historical research method,so as to solve the problem of “why”.Then the paper studies the construction mode and operation mechanism of the professional learning community of American primary and secondary school teachers through using the literature method and combines theory with practice through a specific case,so as to solve the problem of “how to do”.Finally,based on the reflection of the professional learning community of American primary and secondary school teachers,the paper proposes the enlightenment according to the actual situation of our county by using comparative research method.The paper believes that the professional learning community of American primary and secondary school teachers has some positive impacts on the professional development of teachers,the reform of schools and the learning of students.And the references are mainly reflected in: Firstly,schools should further strengthen the development of cooperative teachers' culture and enhance teachers' sense of cooperation;Secondly,schools and educational administrations should build a shared vision through a bottom-up approach;Thirdly,schools and educational administrations should provide sufficient supportive conditions for teachers' cooperative learning;Fourthly,schools should pay attention to the mutual support and sharing of leadership rights;Fifthly,schools should enrich the contents and forms of teachers' cooperative learning in order to meet the development demands of different teachers;Sixthly,our country should develop an evaluation system characterized by “diversification of evaluation subjects and diversification of evaluation forms”in order to ensure the healthy development of the professional learning community of teachers;Finally,schools should create a harmonious atmosphere for teachers' cooperative learning.
