With the urgent demand for STEM talents in the United States and the development of STEM education,STEAM education in American primary and secondary schools has developed and developed.At present,serving the innovation economy and the cultivation of innovative talents,STEAM education in primary and secondary schools in China is also being explored.In view of the relatively mature experience in the implementation of STEAM education in primary and secondary schools in the United States,this research system elaborates the implementation of STEAM education in primary and secondary schools in the United States,in order to provide useful ideas and lessons for the development of STEAM education in primary and secondary schools in China.The United States formally proposed STEM education in 1986 to cope with the growing economic globalization and technological competition.The lack of artistic literacy in STEM education will limit the development of innovative thinking.To this end,STEAM education has been and subsequently developed into the STEAM education movement,and American primary and secondary schools have responded positively.STEAM education is a holistic paradigm from professional learning to lifelong learning.It is based on mathematics and interprets science and technology through engineering and art.Scientists' research on cranial neurocognition,the development of intelligence theory,and the inherent connection between science and art provide a theoretical basis for the implementation of STEAM education in primary and secondary schools in the United States.There are four main ways to implement STEAM education in primary and secondary schools in the United States: the federal government provides STEAM education through the formulation of policies and funding,and social institutions such as project guidance institutions;the design of educational goals and integration into curriculum And carry out related activities to promote STEAM education;primary and secondary school teachers implement STEAM education through classroom teaching and extracurricular cooperation.In general,STEAM education in American primary and secondary schools implements innovative STEM talents with humanistic literacy,establishes cooperative relationships between government,social education institutions and schools,and works as a leader and facilitator based on the project.The main features,but at the same time,there are also problems such as the arduous task of teacher training,the difficulty of teacher cooperation and coordination,and the limitations of educational standards.STEAM education in American primary and secondary schools helps to improve students' problem-solving skills,promote education reform,and enhance national competitiveness.The exploration of STEAM education in primary and secondary schools in China has achieved certain results,but it still needs to face many problems in its further advancement.Learning from the implementation of STEAM education in primary and secondary schools in the United States,STEAM education in primary and secondary schools in China needs to cultivate innovative models with both humanistic qualities and scientific literacy.Talents,building a multi-participating STEAM education ecosystem,creating situations and themes to solve real-world problems,and building a faculty to strengthen STEAM education.
