Paying attention to the previously noted object or position within a certain period of time, the phenomenon of slow response is the inhibition of return(IOR),which is a mechanism generated in order to improve efficiency in the human visual search process. On the basis of predecessors, this study changes the content of working memory materials and explored the effects of the three types of working memory on the inhibition of return caused by detection tasks and comparing the differences between free combat athletes and undergraduates.Study 1 explored the effects of three working memory tasks on the inhibition of return before and after the exogenous cues.Using mixed experiment design,3(working memory type: spatial working memory, object working memory, spatial binding object working memory)×2(memory or not: memory,no memory)×2(cueing: valid cue, invalid cue)×2(the group of people: undergraduates, free combat athletes).Except that the group of people was between subject independent factor, the others were within-subjects independent factors, and the dependent variables were the reaction time and IOR score to the detection task.In the study 1a,working memory task presented before the exogenous cue.Participants consist of 30 undergraduates and 26 free combat athletes. On the reaction time, the effect of interaction about memory or not and the group of people was significant, under the memory condition, the detection task of the free combat athletes is significantly faster than that of undergraduates;under the condition of no memory, there was no significant difference between the two groups. On the IOR score, the main effect of whether the memory was significant, the IOR score of detection task under the memory working memory material condition was significantly smaller than the no memory condition. In the study 1b,working memory task presented after the exogenous cue.Participants consist of 24 undergraduates and 22 free combat athletes. On the IOR score, the effect of interaction about memory or not and the group of people was significant,The IOR score has no significant difference whether the undergraduates memory or not, while the IOR score of free combat athletes under the memory condition was significantly greater than the condition of no memory.Study 2,controlling the probability of the validity of the exogenous cues, forms the high and low level of the attentional set so as to be close to the attention bias in the sports and athletics scenes, and then explored the effects of three working memory tasks on the inhibition of return.Using mixed experiment design,3(working memory type: spatial working memory, object working memory, spatial binding object working memory)×2(memory or not: memory,no memory)×2(attentional set: low attentional set, high attentional set)×2(cueing: valid cue, invalid cue)×2(the group of people: free combat athletes, undergraduates). In the study 2a,working memory task presented before the exogenous cue.Participants consist of 27 undergraduates and 24 free combat athletes. On the score IOR,the effect of interaction about memory or not and the attentional set was significant, under low attentional set conditions, the IOR score of memory conditions was significantly lower than the condition of no memory;under high attentional set conditions, memory conditions was significantly higher than the condition of no memory. In the study 2b,working memory task presented after the exogenous cue.Participants consist of 24 undergraduates and 23 free combat athletes. On the IOR score, the effect of interaction about memory or not and the attentional set was significant, under low attentional set conditions, there was no significant between the IOR score of the conditions of memory and the condition of no memory;under high attentional set conditions, memory conditions was significantly higher than the condition of no memory. Conclusion: Overall,to memorize working memory tasks will reduce the IOR score, regardless of working memory tasks were before or after the exogenous cue, that is,the three types of working memory materials affected the encoding and storage of the exogenous cues in the cue-target paradigm.Working memory task presented before the exogenous cue,in the low attentional set, memory load weakened the suppression of slower response to previously noted positions;in the high attentional set,the memory load weakened the facilitation of faster response to previously noted locations.Working memory task presented before the exogenous cue and without attentional set, compared to undergraduates the free combat athletes have a great ability of detection, rapid response capability, and better at allocating resources to detection tasks.Working memory task presented after the exogenous cue and without attentional set, compared to undergraduates the free combat athletes were more susceptible to the working memory between cues and targets.Under certain conditions, the working memory task could enhance IOR score.
