STEM is the abbreviation of four disciplines: Science,Technology,Engineering and Mathematics,different from traditional teaching methods and curriculum settings,the core of STEM education is the interdisciplinary integration favored by science and technology Developing students' STEM literacy through project-based learning meets the requirements of students' essential character and key ability in the 21 st century,and conforms to the requirements of the current comprehensive reform in the field of education.Maker education with "creation" as its core idea aims at cultivating talents with innovative and practical abilities,developing STEM education for Maker means emphasizing the cultivation of literacy in subject field,interdisciplinary problem solving ability and innovative practice ability with the concept of "creativity" of Maker.Firstly,this study combs the research status and development context of STEM education at home and abroad,and sorts out the connotation and characteristics of STEM education and Maker education.On this basis,this paper analyses the characteristics and training emphasis of Maker and STEM education,puts forward the basic concept of STEM education for Maker training,and under the guidance of the basic concept,designs a double helix activity main line of "Scientific inquiry-Engineering design" for problem solving based on the different nature problems in the teaching process.Then,based on the above research,this paper analyses the five elements of STEM teaching mode,which are "theoretical basis,teaching objectives,operating procedures,conditions for realization,and teaching evaluation",and constructs a STEM teaching mode oriented to the cultivation of Maker.Finally,the reliability of STEM teaching mode is verified by the teaching experiment with "wind turbine" as the theme project.From the students' knowledge mastery,final works,questionnaires and other results,we can see that STEM teaching mode oriented to the cultivation of Maker has a positive effect on cultivating students' innovative practical ability and interdisciplinary problem-solving consciousness and ability.
