Since 1990 s,“Less Emphasis on Grammar” has a great influence on the Chinese language educational circles.This concept is based on the specific historical background and education environment.With the developments of times and changes on social environment,current Chinese grammar teaching in senior high schools has changed from targeted “less emphasis on grammar” to intentional “neglect of grammar”,which has led to the lack of Chinese grammar teaching in senior high school and had great impact on students' abilities to use language as well as the improvement on Chinese language accomplishment.Based on the grammar teaching of modern Chinese in senior high school,this paper will discuss the understanding of teachers and students on modern Chinese grammar,specific situations,and teaching effects,with the analysis on questionnaires for teachers and students in senior high schools as well as grammar mistakes in students' writings.From these aspects,the writer is going to make a research on grammar teaching of modern Chinese in senior high schools,find the problems and causes in current teaching,and give relevant suggestions.After a research on the Chinese language teaching in three senior high schools in Henan province,this paper makes a conclusion about the status quo of grammar teaching of modern Chinese in senior high schools.In the teaching preparation phase,the writer makes an analysis of senior high school teachers and students' understanding on modern Chinese grammar and teaching,including the understanding and cognition of senior high school teachers on modern Chinese grammar teaching,the reserves and sources of teachers' grammar and teaching knowledge,the understanding and cognition of senior high students on modern Chinese grammar learning,and early-stage reserves of students' Chinese grammar knowledge.The research on teaching process includes four aspects,teachers' preparations for lessons,teaching frequency,teaching contents and strategies.The teaching effects of modern Chinese grammar include teachers' opinions and evaluations on the language practice of students,students' opinions and evaluations on their own language practice,and the grammar mistakes in students' writings.This paper,from these 3 levels and 11 aspects mentioned above,will have a comprehensive understanding of the current situations of modern Chinese grammar teaching in senior high schools.After analyzing the status quo of modern Chinese grammar teaching,this paper will further conclude existing problems.First,Chinese teachers in senior high schools today lack related knowledge and theories of modern Chinese grammar teaching.Teachers have inadequate understanding of modern Chinese grammar and the theories and objectives of grammar teaching.There are great differences on the cognition and opinions of grammar teaching among different teacher groups.Teachers have weak awareness on teaching research and academic discussion.Second,there are problems on the specific process of modern Chinese grammar teaching in senior high schools.These problems include low teaching frequency,fragmentary contents,single teaching methods,boring process and large differences in the teaching condition of different cities.Third,the actual results,including students' abilities and teaching effect,of modern Chinese grammar teaching are unsatisfactory.Students' language practical abilities need be improved and the modern Chinese grammar teaching brings little effect.This paper gives a complete analysis of the factors that greatly influence the modern Chinese grammar teaching from the following three aspects: “top-level design”,“collective understanding” and “practical actions”.Mainly focusing on the problem that a synergic and coherent system of modern Chinese grammar teaching has not been built,“top-level design” gives an analysis of target system,knowledge system and evaluation system of modern Chinese grammar teaching.“Collective understanding” discusses the influence on which senior high school teachers and students exert.“Practical actions” pays attention to the current situation in senior high schools and analyzes the influences on modern Chinese grammar from the perspective of teaching schedule,knowledge and characteristics of grammar,teaching evaluation and teaching research.For the problems and causes found in the research,the writer gives targeted suggestions to improve modern Chinese grammar teaching.First,a synergic and coherent system of modern Chinese grammar teaching should be built.Second,relevant contents and requirements should be clear and definite in curriculum standards and teaching materials.Third,teachers' concepts should be changed and their abilities should be improved through deepening teaching modes.Fourth,the strategies and assessment of modern Chinese grammar teaching should be innovated.Fifth,the actual results of teaching research in all levels should be enhanced.All in all,this paper,based on modern Chinese grammar teaching in senior high schools,makes a research about the teaching status quo,teaching problems and suggestions.With this paper,the writer wants to have a positive effect on the current Chinese language learning and contributes to the healthy development of Chinese language teaching in senior high schools.
