Self-enrollment is a special type of enrollment system derived from the reform ofthe college entrance examination system.The purpose is to select outstanding talents with disciplines and innovation potential.Since the pilot in 2001,this enrollment system has been in existence for 18 years and plays an important role in the field of higher education enrollment.However,the value and effectiveness of this system in various sectors of society is still controversial.Supporters believe that the system is an useful supplement to the college entrance examination system for the selection of special,partial and strange talents for the pilot universities.Opponents believe that the implementation process of the system is not fair,the implementation effect is not good,and no high-quality talents have been selected.It can be seen that the quality of talent selection has become a dispute point for discussion between the two parties.At this stage,the quality of higher education has become a demand in the field of education,and the quality of the selection of the admissions system has become a hot topic.Whether the independent enrollment system can select high-quality students for colleges and universities,whether the colleges and universities are differentiated to the student groups after the selection to improve the quality of personnel training has become an urgent education problem.In recent years,the educational evaluation paradigm has gradually shifted to the self-evaluation of students.The educational experience and educational output of students' self-reported student engagement and study outcomes have become an important means to test the quality of higher education and the quality of curriculum teaching.The performance and achievements of students entering N University through self-enrollment assessment can provide a realistic basis for N University's enrollment selection quality and teaching quality.Based on this,this study starts with the students' learning situation,selects undergraduates from N University as the research object,and uses the questionnaire survey method to compare the student engagement and study outcomes of independent enrolled students and ordinary college entrance examination students,and explores the independent enrollment system of N University.The quality of talent selection and the quality of follow-up personnel training provide ideas and suggestions for N University to improve its independent enrollment work and talent training mode.The specific conclusions of the study are as follows:(1)The overall degree of student engagement of self-enrolled students is higher,in which the awareness of curriculum objectives is slightly insufficient,the participation and richness of extracurricular activities are obviously inadequate,and the cultivation and development of academic specialties is also a shortage.(2)The study outcomes of self-enrolled students are higher overall,among which the professional knowledge and subject specialty knowledge need to be enhanced,and the critical thinking ability,organizational leadership ability and problem solving ability need to be improved.(3)Learning sense of meaning is the most important factor affecting the study outcomes of the two types of students.In addition,for independent enrollment students,the participation of extracurricular activities has a significant positive impact on study outcomes,and the cultivation and development of disciplinary expertise has no significant impact on study outcomes.For ordinary college entrance examination students,the cultivation and development of subject specialty has a significant positive impact on study outcomes,while student-teacher interaction has a significant negative impact on study outcomes.The enlightenment based on the above conclusions is as follows:(1)The talent selection quality of the N University independent enrollment system is good,and the independent enrollment policy should be promoted to improve the independent enrollment work.(2)Pay attention to the connection between enrollment and training,implement differentiated talent training methods,and provide special development and comprehensive development opportunities for independent enrollment students.(3)Students are the main body of learning,and should consciously increase their investment in learning.At the same time,colleges and universities should stimulate students' deep learning motivation to help students obtain learning outcomes.(4)Pay attention to the background of independent enrollment students and strengthen the fairness of enrollment policies.
