Research On The Teaching Status Of Music Appreciation Course In Junior Middle Schools

The values of music course consist of four parts,which are aesthetic experience value,creative development value,social communication value and cultural inheritance value.Music course keeps cultivating aesthetic value as the central task.Music discipline,an important part of education for all-round development,is taken seriously by the education departments at all levels.The goal of music appreciation course is cultivating students’ sentiments,imagination,innovative thinking and aesthetic abilities.Junior middle school students,whose ages range from 12 to 15,are in a crucial stage of improving music appreciation abilities because they are energetic,passionate and curious.By researching three junior middle schools in Taikang county,Henan province,the author,as a participant of the program of cultivating Education Master for schools in rural areas,found that the schools have music courses,but the music course failed to achieve the expected effects.As an important course aiming at improving students’ aesthetic abilities,music appreciation course didn’t arouse enough attention of the schools,teachers and students.Taking the three junior middle schools for examples,the author mainly adopted three research methods in the study,namely literature research method,questionnaire method and field observation method.The study is conducted from many aspects,such as the music teaching facilities and managements,the aesthetics and skills of the teachers,the teaching effects of music appreciation courses,the concerns of music courses form the society.Meanwhile,the author made researches on the students’ paradoxical attitude toward music discipline-they like music course,but they don’t like music appreciation course.Further research helps to find the problems leading to the students’ paradoxical attitude.The teaching facilities and managements of music course are insufficient,the teachers’ aesthetics of music and teaching abilities cannot match with the students’ development requirements.The major content of music course is singing,while the music appreciation is ignored to some degree.What’s more,the teaching methods cannot follow the development of the discipline.In this regard,the teacher mainly adopts cramming method,and puts the students in a passive position,which fails to arouse the curiosities of the students or improve their creative thinking,aesthetics of music and personalities.Based on the current situation of music appreciation courses in junior middleschools,the curriculum standards,and the thinking form practical teaching,the author gives some suggestions on improving the teaching of music appreciation courses.The study of the music appreciation course is conducted from the managements of the school,the aesthetics of the teachers and the interests of the students in music courses on the basis of characteristics of junior middle schools in Taikang county.The study aims to arouse more attention of the schools,teachers and the students,improve the appreciation levels,music accomplishment and aesthetics abilities of the students.In addition,it helps them understand,use and compose music,and finally promotes their comprehensive capabilities.
