In this rapid economic development and accelerated technological change era,people's connections are more convenient and close.The ever-changing product invention and the high-speed operation of the pace of life have led to stricter and more diverse quality requirements for talents.It is not only the cognitive ability that is valued by traditional labor economics such as education level,but the importance of non-cognitive ability is gradually recognized by more and more labor economics scholars.Based on the above background,this paper analyzes the influence of social ability on the wage level of laborers,and divides social ability into the ability to get along with people,the ability to understand language and expression and the ability to control emotions.Then we discuss the influence of these abilities on the wage level of workers and the impact on the employment choice respectively.In terms of empirical testing,we used factor analysis on the selection of social ability proxy variables to select the most representative factors.Secondly,the Heckman two-step method eliminates the problem of sample selection bias,so we use the OLS least squares method to analyze the impact of social ability on wage level.Finally,we use mlogit regression to analyze the choice of career choices.The main results show that1.social ability has a positive effect on the wage level of male workers,and the effect is significant.With the increasing of sample's percentile,the significance of the effect of social ability on male wages is increasing,while the significance of the effect on women wages is decreasing.2.At the industry level,there is a significant positive correlation between male social skills and wages in traditional service industries and secondary industries;at the professional level,women in management technicians have an increase in their wages because of social skills.And in employer nature level,men have social ability wage advantages in multiple categories:foreign businessmen,Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwanese companies,state-owned enterprises,private enterprises,individual industrial and commercial households.3.In terms of employment choices,women are more willing to become management technicians and employees of state-owned enterprises while men workers are less willing to engage in service industry.
