The so-called "good student" image is a kind of social expectation of students'roles and the extemalization and representation of their own role behaviors.It is rnot only a description of what kind of students are cultivated,but also affects people's impression and evaluation of students to some extent.To examine the "good student" image of contemporary primary schools from the perspective of pedagogy,this paper adheres to the principle of combining theory with practice and it is based on theoretical accumulation and field investigation.In addition to the introduction,the paper is divided into four parts.The first part is an overview of contemporary "good student" image.Firstly,it explains the connotation of "good student"."Good student" is often called "outstanding student" or "excellent students",it can refer to people's ideal of good students,but also can refer to the students who receives an honorary title.Secondly,based on the educational policies issued by the state since the founding of new China,this paper sorts out the evolution of the image of "good students",tries to discuss the basic characteristics of the development of "good students" image in different stages.Finally,this paper summarizes the basic standards of the ideal "good students" image in primary schools,one is the unity of good personality and sociality,the other is comprehensive quality development.The second part examines the current image of "good students" in primary schools through the investigation in two urban primary schools and two township primary schools in G city.First of all,this paper introduces the basic background of the subjects.And then summarizes the essential features of "good students" from five dimensions of moral quality,physical and mental state,living and behavior habits,academic performance,aesthetic literacy and ability in the eyes of students,parents and teachers.At present,people's identification of the image of "good students" in primary schools is as follows.The first is parent group has the highest expectation and requirement for the image of "good students" compared with teacher group and student group.The second is the five dimensions that each group attaches importance to from the top to the bottom are learning quality,moral quality,physical and psychological quality,life and behavior habits,aesthetic quality and ability.The third is all three groups pay more attention to students'performance related to learning,interpersonal communication and self-discipline,while they neglect such qualities as "sense of justice","compassion",,love and care for the collective" and active participation in sports activities,labor,as well as innovation ability,talent,practical ability and organizational ability.The third part is to analyze the problems and causes of the contemporary image of "good students" in primary schools based on the questionnaire and interview data.The problems are mainly reflected in the following aspects:the emphasis on studies and the imbalance of other development;the emotional indifference of children and the generation of "social marginal person";the one-sided emphasis on obedience and the deficiency of students'innovative spirit.The causes of these problems include the background of the exam-oriented education,the orientation to the instrumental moral education and the deep-rooted adult autocracy.The fourth part,aiming at the existing problems and reasons of the image of "good students",puts forward some suggestions on how to optimize the image of "good students",including the improvement of social cultural environment,the transformation of children's education and the establishment of students'identity as "image constructors".
