Textbooks are not only important resources for teachers to understand the national curriculum standards and teaching concepts, but also the first-hand materials for students to grasp the teaching difficulties and learn effectively. The comparison of textbooks can promote the overall evaluation of those, draw on the advanced advantages of different textbooks and promote the development of teaching. This paper selects the A level Physics textbooks in Britain and the PEP version of physics textbooks of senior high school in China to make a comparative study. The study is divided into three part including five parts, aiming at the compilation basis, content knowledge and arrangement, and evaluation of examination in Britain and China. On the top of the list,to contrast our country’s senior high school’s physics curriculum standard and the English A level specification, which are respectively the reference standards for the compilation of textbooks in the two countries.Through the comparison,it is found that there are differences between Chinese and English physics education concepts, content standards, including knowledge and experimental requirements.Britain pays more attention to the scientific methods and objectives of experiments, while China pays more attention to the all-round development of studentsSecondly,to compare the internal dimension knowledge level and the external dimension layout characteristics of the textbooks.Taking "electromagnetism" as an example,on the one hand,we compare the catalogue order of textbooks, the breadth and depth of knowledge points and the case "capacitor" knowledge points at the knowledge level, and find that the depth of knowledge points in Britain is higher than that in China, while the breadth of knowledge points in China is higher. On the other hand, the study compares the arrangement characteristics from four aspects:column setting, experiment, writing style, examples and exercises after class. The two countries have their own styles in textbook arrangement.Thirdly, the study is based on the evaluation and comparison of the test after comparing the contents of the textbooks. This paper studies the examination questions of the college entrance examination in the two countries by means of quantitative statistics and qualitative analysis on the examination specification, types, structure and contents of the examination questions. There is a big difference between the two countries in the types of questions in the college entrance examination.English examination papers are mostly explanation questions and short answer questions. The questions are typical of sequence and pay more attention to the explanation of the essential process of physics, while our country pays more attention to the calculation of results and the students’ comprehensive analysis ability.Last but not least, taking the students of Class 1 and Class 15 of YinChuan No.9 Middle School as the objects, the adaptability of the students to English examination papers was tested and analyzed. Some English A-Level "electromagnetics" real questions were translated into a set of questions according to the structure of A Level examination questions. The sample students were tested, and the results were fed back and the students were interviewed. The test showed that the sample testing students had deficiencies in explanation of phenomenon explanation, understanding of physical essence process and scientific language writing.
