With the rapid process of urbanization,more and more rural population rushes into the cities.The children who come to the city with their parents are called “children of new citizens”.Though the identity has changed from “migrant worker” to “the new citizen”,some appellation of discrimination may be removed,the education fairness has been raised by wide attention from all works of life.Classroom teaching is not only the most basic activity of school education,but also the bridge between school education and students.This study takes the classroom participation of the new citizens' children as the starting point,discusses the education problems of the new citizen children and the educational equity problem existing in the education problems of the new citizen children,hoping to trigger the further thinking of the education problems of the new citizen children from all works of life.This paper takes X class of T primary school in Wu Xi as an example,it mainly adopts qualitative research methods(participatory observation and in-depth interview method)to observe the students' participation in the classroom teaching and the daily life of teachers,students and parents inside and outside the classroom.By this process,the author describes the overall situation of class participation of new citizen children and selects several cases based on the overall observations.Through the in-depth description of the case,the special aspects of the participation of the new citizen children has been explained.Based on the sociological perspective,Combining Code Theory,Capital Theory and Identity Theory,this study analyzes the status of classroom participation of new citizens' children from the perspectives of new citizen students' own identity,group factors,family factors and student living space.The study found that the structure of the new citizens' children's classroom participation has obvious characteristics.The identity of the new citizens' children in the new citizen school has a positive impact on their participation in the classroom.The personal characteristics of the teachers in the new citizen school and their educational expectations of the new citizens' children affect the opportunities for students to participate.The group culture and emotional dependence of the peer group also have an impact on the motivation of participation in the classroom.Compared with the average family,the family structure of the new citizens' children is more complicated,and the family's capital is relatively weak,which makes the children of the new citizens have different differences in class participation behavior.The physical space environment and human environment in which new citizens are located are also potential factors influencing their participation in class.The author puts forward corresponding suggestions based on the research results,including the application of the teacher-guided all-channel classroom interaction mode to promote the interaction between the new citizens;Corresponding measures were taken to improve the expectations of new citizen teachers for their students;strengthening the concept of new citizen parents' participation in schools;focusing on the subcultures among student groups and promoting the development of new citizen schools' internal drive.
