Pinyin(Chinese phonetic alphabet)is an effective tool for literacy,reading and writing.It is not only an important and difficult point of language teaching in primary school but also the first barrier for primary school students to learn language.There still exist various shortcomings in Pinyin teaching under the dialect environment.The thesis launches an investigation into three demonstration primary schools in Datong to find out these shortcomings in the previous time from the aspect of Pinyin teaching.It discusses the existed problems and gives corresponding strategies.Better Pinyin teaching is expected with the help of this thesis.This thesis is divided into five parts: The introduction part summarizes the previous research achievements and shortcomings.It also gives an overview of the current situation of Pinyin teaching in primary schools as well as points out the purpose and methods of the study.Shortly after the adoption of the Chinese Phonetic Alphabet Program in 1958,Pinyin was incorporated into the primary school textbook.Although Pinyin teaching has made a lot of achievements with the joint efforts of front-line teachers,experts and scholars,there are still many shortcomings in Pinyin teaching,which needs further reform and improvement.In particular,some important problems have not been effectively solved,such as insufficient teaching materials in the dialect regions,various learning problems from students and various teaching problems from teachers.The second part points out the theoretical basis of Pinyin teaching in primary schools.Based on the new curriculum standard,the theory of constructivism,Piaget's cognitive development theory and inter-language theory,the appropriate methods for Pinyin teaching will be found in dialect regions.The third part analyzes the existed problems in the teaching of Pinyin in primary schools in the dialect environment.With the advent of the era of knowledge explosion,Pinyin plays an important role in more and more aspects.For this reason,people show great enthusiasm and conduct in-depth research on Pinyin teaching.At the same time,despite its important status,there are still many problems in the teaching process,such as the professional level of teachers,the self-control ability of students and theinfluences of dialects on the initials,the finals and the tone teaching.There is an urgent need for further practical exploration and in-depth theory.The forth part discusses the methods and strategies of Pinyin teaching in primary schools based on the above problems.How to change the traditional Pinyin teaching method(teacher's reading and demonstration as well as the students' imitation)? How to free students from the boring abstract letters? How to actively discover the knowledge and explore interesting methods? In the author's opinion,on the one hand,teachers should stimulate students' interest in learning.On the other hand,the professional level of teachers should be improved and a reasonable teaching method of initials,finals and tones should be created.The conclusion part summarizes the research and points out its values.The greatest significance of this thesis is to apply theory into practice.It will improve the Pinyin teaching under the dialectal environment.
