In this paper,part of senior high school geography teachers and students who use Hunan-version textbooks are taken as studying objects.Methods of literature analysis,questionnaire survey,statistical analysis and case analysis are applied to studying the cultivation of students' regional cognition in senior high school geography practice teaching.Firstly,it defines the connotation of geographic practice activity and regional cognition in an effort to figure out the core constituent of regional cognition quality is the regional cognitive ability.And then through the questionnaires answered by students and geography teachers in high schools where Hunan-version geography textbooks are adopted,the author has learned the current situation of high school geographic practice and the regional cognition of those students.It has been noted that improvements are required.Meanwhile,the paper also pointed out the close relationship between questionnaires and students' regional cognition cultivation.With the compulsory textbook III of Hunan version,the author analyzed the cultivation of regional cognitive ability in the activities of the textbook in a statistical manner.On this basis,the author designed geographic teaching cases covering the strawberry base in Hunan Agriculture University and practical field investigation of Xiangjiang River with an aim of cultivating students' regional cognition through practice.Meanwhile,it also offeredreferences to other teachers as well as the new round of curriculum reform.Ultimately,specific advice was offered from the five perspectives of regional cognitive ability.The specific advice can be concluded as organizing geographical lectures and contests,guiding students to pay attention to current affairs and geography,observing geographical phenomena in life,finding geographical problems around them,thinking about regional development and cultivating regional planning ability.The study of cultivating students' regional cognitive literacy through geographic practice teaching is of great significance to the formation of students' core geographic literacy and the reform of geography curriculum.
