The topic of regional words in chinese textbooks of primary and secondary school in Singapore focuses on the study of regional words in chinese textbooks.The chinese textbooks of primary and secondary schools in Singapore form the study materials for this research.And the Modern Chinese Dictionary(7th Edition),The Global Chinese Dictionary and Singapore Modern Unique words Dictionary are used as references.We read the chinese textbooks to collate the regional words systematically.We study and analyze the regional words.Through the Qestionaries,we find out the problems in the process of teaching regional words,and we suggest the solutions to solve the problems.There are three types of Singapore regional words in this paper.1)similar words with different meaning.2)different words for the same objects.3)Unique Singaporean words.We read and calculate 112 regional words from the textbooks of primary and secondary,and we analyze the repetition rate and the causes of the regional words based on social linguistic theory.We find that the causes of regional words are mainly influenced by Malay,dialect,English and old words.Languge to some extent reflects social cultural customs and habits,and vocabulary marks the development of language.In the quantitative analysis of regional words in chinese textbooks of primary and secondary schools in Singapore.We mainly analyze them from four aspects,1)the quantitative analysis of different types of regional words,2)the quantitative analysis of different parts of speech,3)the quantitative analysis of regional words in the different grades,4)the quantitative analysis of different meanings of regional words.We analyze the data results based on social linguistic theory.We find the rule about regional words: more regional words are found for words that are closely related to our social life,the ones that are more closely related to the social life,the higher repetition rate.Language is rooted in social relationships,and any changes in social life will be reflected in language,especially in vocabulary.Through the results of Questionaries,we find that Chinese teachers are tolerant of regional words and they will explain them simply for students.In the process of teaching regional words,teachers think that the difficulties and problems are not only to spend time and energy to find out the relevant materials,but also to occupy the classroom time to explain.Some teachers worry about causing burdens to students.For students,their daily language is basically English,and their Chinese proficiency is not very high.It's easier to remember the meaning of Singaporean chinese and it's difficult to remember the corresponding meaning in Putonghua.In addition,students are not interested in learning regional words,they will not take initiative to learn and understand regional words.We hope there is a set of regional words books which are synchronized with chinese textbooks and with illustrations and pictures,similar storybooks or comic books in both Chinese and English in the near future.For teachers,they don't need to spend time and energy to search for information related to regional words.For students,these pictoral and textual books can be used as extra-curricular reading materials to help students learn and understand regional words effectively.In this way,more and more people understand regional words,and eliminate the communication barriers and misunderstandings caused by regional words gradually.
