Writing teaching is often in a weak position in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.And writing skills,as one of the four basic skills of listening,speaking,reading and writing,have not received enough attention.During my tenure as a Chinese teacher in Chinese School of Northern Myanmar,I found that the composition writing of students in Chinese School of Northern Myanmar has certain particularities.Students at advanced level of Chinese have certain writing ability,but their writing ability is restricted to a certain extent.This paper intends to find out some effective suggestions on the teaching of written language writing for students in Chinese School of Northern Myanmar by investigating the elegance level of their writings,so as to improve their writing level.Firstly,This paper introduced Mr.Feng Shengli's theory of stylistic grammar.Then according to Mr.Feng Shengli's formula for automatic measurement of the elegance of written Chinese style,this paper investigated the composition of the third grade students in Daqili Dahua Buddhist Sutra Demonstration School and Dongzhi Guowen Middle School,Dongzhi Xinghua Middle School in Northern Myanmar,quantified the elegance level of their composition,and compared it with the composition of middle school students in the same educational stage in China.As a result,we found that the elegance of students' compositions in Chinese School of North Myanmar is related to the use of inlaid words,conjunctive words,written sentence patterns,HSK D-level words and functional words in ancient Chinese.Although their writing proficiency is higher than that of the general learners of Chinese as a foreign language,to some extent,they can be in line with the domestic situation,but unlike the domestic situation,the internal proficiency of students in Chinese School of Northern Myanmar varies greatly,and there are some stylistic errors.The main reason is that although the students in the Chinese School of Northern Myanmar have a certain ability to use formal written style,but they lack systematic stylistic knowledge and only "know what it is,but don't know why it is".Finally,in view of this situation,this paper put forward some teaching suggestions to improve the writing level of students in Chinese school of northern Myanmar from theaspects of teachers,students,textbook compilation,training methods and other communicative elements.
