The academic community generally believes that the personal characteristics of managers have a significant impact on corporate decision-making.Characteristics such as age and gender are the main influencing factors of managerial personality and experience.Education and work experience can determine the personal cognition,values and personal views of managers.Therefore,the characteristics of the executive team can influence the decision-making and performance of the company through the above factors.The innovation performance of an enterprise is a lasting driving force for the development of the enterprise.The R&D investment of the enterprise is mainly determined by the senior management team considering various internal and external factors.Therefore,the performance of the company's new product development,innovation strategy deployment and innovation performance depends to some extent on the characteristics of the executive team.This paper takes 417 A-share listed companies in the 8 years from 2011 to 2018 as a sample,selects the age,education background and gender in the personal background characteristics of executives as the explanatory variables,and studies the influence of three background characteristics of senior management team on the innovation performance of enterprises.And when executives hold shares and companies are different in scale,the impact of executive team background on corporate innovation performance is different.The study found that the average age is lower,the average degree is higher,and the male executives are more creative.The executive equity incentives can regulate the impact of different characteristics of the corporate executive team on innovation performance.Younger,academic level The executive team with low and masculine characteristics is more susceptible to equity incentives;different firm sizes can adjust the impact of different characteristics of executive teams on innovation performance,and young,highly educated,masculine executive teams have Creativity,so in different scales of enterprises,senior management teams with different characteristics should be formed.
