With the cultivation of innovative talents being included in the national strategy in our country,STEM education has gradually become the focus of attention in the educational circles because of its characteristics of cultivating innovative talents.Experts,scholars,professors and front-line teachers are trying to introduce STEM education into the field of basic education.In order to improve the general lack of innovation awareness and hands-on creativity in primary and secondary schools in our country.But,only when the front-line teachers have a correct understanding of STEM education,and then implement STEM education in curriculum practice,can we really improve this situation.Therefore,it is particularly important to sort out the relevant issues of STEM education and then carry out localized STEM curriculum development.The purpose of this study is to develop STEM courses using the science curriculum of the primary school as a carrier.The study uses literature research and action research.Firstly,a large number of relevant literature were read,and the research status of STEM education and STEM curriculum development at home and abroad were sorted out and summarized.Secondly,STEM education and characteristics,STEM literacy and composition,STEM curriculum and characteristics,STEM curriculum content selection principles and integration methods related issues were sorted out and summarized.In addition,the relevant theories of curriculum development were consulted to lay a theoretical foundation for STEM curriculum development.This study draws on the situational model of curriculum development.Firstly,the situational analysis of curriculum development is carried out from three aspects: thechange of the standard of the primary school science curriculum under the STEM education concept,the author's own value orientation,the students' learning situation and interest.Secondly,the contents of the DIY plant wall and the national textbook of primary school science were analyzed,selected and integrated.Third,draw on the research results of predecessors,namely the STEM literacy framework,and the STEM curriculum objectives of the DIY plant wall under the existing curriculum standards in China.Fourth,form a DIY plant wall STEM curriculum program and put the course into practice.The results of the implementation found that the students' initiative and creativity and innovation were beyond imagination.The DIY Plant Wall STEM course is an introductory course for third-grade students to enter engineering design.The main purpose of which is to promote the transfer and integration of students' knowledge,so that students have a preliminary understanding of the engineering design process,and lay a foundation for students to understand the relationship between STEM field and life.From the perspective of students' work and learning enthusiasm,the author believes that the DIY plant wall STEM course design is feasible.At the end of the paper,this study combs the five values and significance of the curriculum development.The five values are “based on the real situation,integrating the relevant subject knowledge”,“from the subject center to the education center”,“building a bridge for students to understand the relationship between S,T,E and life”,“The openness of engineering task provides space for the development of innovation ability","providing opportunities for professional cognition and professional development".In addition,two suggestions for the development of STEM curriculum are proposed,that is the curriculum goal is formulated from the STEM literacy,combined with the Chinese disciplinary standards;the selection of course content must follow certain principles.
