In recent years,with the rapid development of Chinese as a foreign language,different types of teaching methods and teaching modes have emerged one after another.Among them,the immersive teaching introduced to the United States in the 1960 s is considered to be a better second language teaching mode.The Chinese Immersion Program has also been rapidly developed.Since the establishment of the first Chinese immersion school in 2006,as of March 2019,278 schools have been established to open Chinese immersion programs.Based on the author's hands-on practice,this article adopts literature analysis method,practice observation method and case analysis method,takes the Chinese immersion program of Naselle School in Washington State as an example to conduct a comprehensive study of American elementary school Chinese immersion programs.The first chapter includes the reasons for the topic selection,the purpose and significance of the research,and the research status at home and abroad.Based on the development status of American Chinese immersion program and the author's experience,this topic will provide real and effective cases and data for Chinese immersion teaching research,provide preliminary reference for novice teachers to understand immersive teaching,and promote Chinese immersion program and provide advice for traditional teaching Chinese as a foreign language.The second chapter makes a brief analysis of the current situation of Chinese immersion program in primary schools,including its theoretical basis,development type,teaching characteristics and teaching effects.In general,American Chinese immersive mainly includes two types: fully immersive and partially immersive.It has four distinctive features: only syllabus,multi-game activities,thematic teaching,and rich multimedia resources in Chinese immersion program.Students learn Chinese quickly and have a good knowledge of subject knowledge.The third,fourth,fifth and sixth chapters are based on the author's teaching practice.Taking the Chinese immersion program of Naselle School as an example,they study from three aspects: teaching materials,teaching and teachers.The textbooks include two kinds of textbooks and extracurricular Chinese graded reading materials;the teaching aspect specifically studies the teaching objectives and contents from different disciplines,and also includes effective teaching methods and classroom management methods;teachers include their composition,training and the ability.The seventh chapter puts forward relevant opinions on the problems existing in teaching materials,teaching and teachers.At the same time,the Chinese immersive teaching mode and the traditional Chinese teaching mode are compared and analyzed,hoping to provide reference for the development of traditional Chinese teaching mode.
