There are a large quantities of studies on Confucius' s thoughts since ancient time in China,among which the focus on Xing(stimulation),Guan(observation),Qun(sociability)and Yuan(complaint)is one of the most important.The original text,which illustrates that “the Odes serve to stimulate the mind.They may be used for purposes of self-contemplation.They teach the art of sociability.They show how to regulate feelings of resentment”,is a contemplation on the aesthetic value and social educational significance of poetry.From the angle of education through poetry teaching,the theory of Xing,Guan,Qun,and Yuan show its meaning to the poetry education in middle high school.In domestic academia,the study of this theory mainly delves into the empirical research,literature review,and its relationship with Chinese teaching,though they have an eye on education,they roughly care about the literary value instead of its practical value.In this thesis,some research on the status of middle high school teaching has been done,and based on that,an analysis of the reasons and solutions have been sought respectively from the perspective of both teacher and student.We hold that it is a good way to mingle the theory of Xing,Guan,Qun,and Yuan into the poetry teaching in middle high school.Generally speaking,Xing means to create an environment to stimulate students to positively study;Guan suggests to evaluate a person by looking into his life and background of the times,and know the history from the text;Qun helps to self-contemplation and have a dialogue with people around,and even further,a dialogue between the author and the readers;Yuan instructs to regulate the mood tenderly.Thus,the creation as well as the main task of this thesis is to apply the theory to the teaching practice,and explore a potential way to form of teaching pattern based on this theory.This thesis in structured in this way: in the introduction part are an elucidation of the significance and methodology,and a literary review on domestic study of the relation between “Xing,Guan,Qun,Yuan and poetry teaching in middle school.And in the second chapter is a representation of the history of expoundation of Xing,Guan,Qun,and Yuan,and its significance to modern teaching have been demonstrated.I hold that this theory is beneficial both to student's leaning and teacher's teaching.The third chapter involves a survey on contemporary poetry teaching strategy in Chinese middle high school,as well as a comparison of the previous textbooks and the prevailing one.The last Chapter takes for designed lessons as examples to show that the theory can be put into practice,and it will prove its effectiveness.
