A Case Study On Social Work Intervening In The Role Predicament Of Urban Retired People

Nowadays,many changes in China's social economy,culture and other aspects are intertwined with the problem of social aging,and the elderly will inevitably face problems in all aspects of the aging process.As individuals,we play different social roles given to us by each period.Retirement is an important symbol of a person's social role change.For the elderly,if work is regarded as the beginning of their first career,then retirement means the end of their first career and the beginning of their second career,which is also a process they must adapt to career transition.Retirement is considered to be an important turning point in life,when the elderly leave full-time jobs and return to the community or family society to spend their later years in the process of social role transformation.Most of the old people have some negative emotions towards the new social roles,such as having difficulty in adapting,feeling old and useless,showing lack of self-confidence and preparation for the retirement life,easily losing the focus of life,and falling into a role-free predicament.This paper aims at the urban retirees suffering from "retirement syndrome",measures the actual situation of the individual cases with the help of the anxiety self-rating scale and the case problem rating scale,sorts them reasonably according to the degree of crisis and the difficulty of solving the problem,formulates the intervention plan,and adjusts it appropriately according to the actual intervention effect.During the intervention period,social support theory and power raising theory were used to help the elderly to stabilize and expand the social support network,to help the elderly to enhance their abilities,and to explore and stimulate the potential of the elderly to face the social role change after retirement.According to the intervention results of the case and the related topics about the role dilemma of the urban elderly,it is found that the reasons for the role dilemma of the urban elderly group after retirement are various,mainly in the psychological aspect.After retirement,due to the situation changes at the individual,family and social levels,psychological imbalance is induced,which leads to the role dilemma and the inability to adapt to and independently adjust the new social role after retirement.
