The main subject of this research is the role-reversal of the retirees, the use ofsemi-structured interviews is to understand their retirement planning, recentlyretired life adaptation and post-retirement life. To well analyze the two importantperiods of retirement, we should focus on their role-cognition, their role-adaptation,role-expectation, and the possible role-conflict and role-strain.In the main part of the body, through the results of the interviews that containthe retirement and post-retirement life, we can summed up the main pre-andpost-retirement roles in adapting the retired life. According to both the comparisonand analysis of retirees’ role transformation, we can go further to understand therole-reversal of the retired people. I then paid attention to the career, the economicstatus and other aspects of social support to explain the factors of the role-reversal.In this process of their transformation, we can see the contradiction in their emotionand their intellect, as well as the contradiction of the right and the obligation in theirmind."Time flies" and "I’m young" constituted the first tier of their psychologicaladjustment disorder; secondly, most of the retirees see their retirement as anecessary obligation to fulfill, but they did not consider their retiremetn as anexchange of their labor which has served the country fot more than thirty years. Thediscovery of the seperation between the obligaton and the rigit of retirement is oneof the outstanding point in this research.
