An Investigation And Research On Current Situation Of Competency Of Primary School Principals

The research and application of competency can provide objective basis for the selection,assessment,training and promotion of primary school principals.But most researchers stopped at the construction of the competency model,The research about the primary school principals' competency investigation and promotion strategy is weak.It has important theoretical significance and practical significance of investigating and analyzing present situation of primary school principals' competency in order to make promotion strategy.On the basis of literature analysis,combining with the principal school principals' behavioral events interview data,The focus group interview method was used to establish the primary school principals competency characteristics and dimensions.According to the method of situational judgment test,the survey tool was developed step by step to test the reliability and validity of the survey tool.The primary school principals in two regions were selected for the survey.The survey data were statistically analyzed to discuss the influencing factors of primary school principals' competency.The following conclusions are obtained:The competency of primary school principals includes 16 characteristics: relationship maintenance,system establishment,introspection,team leadership,integrity,achievement orientation,professionalism,decision-making,influence,self-control,willpower,self-confidence,fairness and justice,flexibility,innovation and communication ability.Exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis show that these characteristics can be classified into four dimensions: organizational control,cognitive decision-making,personal characteristics and coordination flexibility.The self-developed survey tool for primary school principals' competency has been proved to have good reliability and validity,which can be used for the current situation survey of primary school principals' competency.The results of statistical analysis show that gender,urban and rural areas and years of service have different influences on the competency of primary school principals.Based on the analysis of the influencing factors of primary school principals' competency difference,the improvement strategies are put forward from three aspects: macro planning,middle implementation and micro self-improvement.
