With the rapid development of economy,there has been an increasing demand for skilled personnel in the job market and being a qualified member of such workforce not only requires excellent working skills but also demands good mentalities.Though served as a place for cultivating skilled talents,Secondary Vocational School is far from satisfied in recruiting students with proper levels due to factors such as traditional bias and increased university enrollment.At present,a majority of students in Secondary Vocational School are those who failed to pass the exam for high school or those suffering from financial problems.Among them are a special group----orphan students,whose sense of inferiority,anxiety and lack of security are the perspectives from which the research is conducted.Compared with those from normal families,orphan students have less access to social support.Hence the paper explores the possibility to enhance the orphan students' sense of security through intervention in social support they can get in the specific context of Secondary Vocational School.The research consists of two parts.In the first part,200 students in Secondary Vocational School were surveyed using questionnaires based on Scales of Security and Scale of Social Support Teenagers Get.Consequently,142 questionnaires are collected,including 30 from orphan students and 112 from average families.The data processed and analyzed help gain insight into the correlation between correlation between orphan students' sense of security in Secondary Vocational School and the social support they receive based on the comparison in terms of gender,Grades,being a class leader or not and living in the rural area or urban area.The second part is devoted to study on intervention in the social support 10 orphan students receive in Secondary Vocational School with the aim of enhancing their sense of security.The conclusions are as follows.Firstly,as regards sense of security,in Secondary Vocational School orphan students are obviously at a lower level than those from average families in sense of interpersonal security,certainty in control and total security score.Among orphanstudents,boys are at a higher level than girls while Grade or experience in being leaders of a class dose not make much difference in level of sense of security.Secondly,in terms of social support,orphan students obviously score lower than those from average families regarding subjective support,objective support,support availability and total social support.Among orphan students,those living in the urban area sore higher than those living in the rural area.Not much difference exists in Gender,Grade or having the experience of being a class leader or not.Thirdly,the data shows there is an obvious correlation between orphan students' sense of security in Secondary Vocational School and the social support they receive and the correlation coefficient is 0.557.Therefore,more social support means better sense of security.Finally,intervention study finds out that intervention in social support for orphan students in Secondary Vocational School is conducive to increasing their sense of security as well as their mental growth.
