With the development of urbanization and the reform of urban-rural dual system,academic adaptability of migrant children has drawn researchers' attentions.This study employed multiple linear regression to analyze the influence of parent-child relationship,which included understanding and communication,harsh interference,love of respect,and growth tolerance,on academic adaptability,and employed the mediation models to examine the mediating effects of resilience on the relationship between parent-child relationship and academic adaptability in a sample of 255 migrant junior students and 155 local junior students from two middle schools in Shanghai,China.Results showed that:?.Migrant students had lower parent-child relations,resilience,and the academic adaptability than local students'.(?)In parent-child relationship,migrant students' father's understanding communication,father's love of respect,and father's growth tolerance were siginificantly lower than local students';however,migrant students' father's and mother's harsh interference were higher than local students'.(?)In terms of resilience,migrant students' internal protection was lower than local students'.However,there was no significant difference between the migrant and local students on external protection.(?)Migrant students' academic adaptability was significantly lower than local students'.?.Father's understanding and communication as well as father's growth tolerance of parent-child relations significantly improved migrant students' academic adaptability.?.Mother's understanding and communication,father's love of respect,and father's growth tolerance of parent-child relations significantly improved migrant students' the level of resilience.?.Internal protection of resilience significantly improved migrant students' academic adaptability.?.Father's love of respect and father's growth tolerance both directly and indirectly improved migrant students' academic adaptability by enhancing their internal protection.Our results suggested that encouraging parent-child communication by enhancing mother's understanding communication,father's love of respect,and father's growth tolerance to their children can increase migrant students' academic adaptability.Schools and education system can also enourage migrant parents,especially father,to involve in their children's development.
