In view of the lack of learning motivation of Grade Six students in rural primary schools,this study develops a group counseling program,aiming at improving their level of learning motivation,and verifies the effectiveness of the program for such students' learning motivation intervention through group counseling intervention.This study consists of three parts:The first part is literature research.Based on the research of domestic and foreign scholars,the author summarizes the definition of learning motivation,influence factors,current situation of learning motivation of rural primary school students in Grade Six and intervention research.And the research approach of this paper is put forward.The second part is survey of the current situation,with the Grade Four,Five,Six students in 32 primary schools in a city as the subjects,1800 students(600 each in Grade Four,Five,Six)were randomly selected as subjects.The learning motivation diagnostic test(MAAT)was used to investigate the learning motivation status of Grade Six students in rural primary schools.The third part is intervention study.Among a rural primary school Grade Six students,through voluntary registration,corresponding tests and interviews,64 experimental subjects were selected,and then randomly divided into experimental group and control group with 32 students each.The experimental group members were given group counseling with learning motivation as the theme,while the control group members were assisted by the ordinary group counseling.Members of the experimental group and the control group were given the same 90 minutes a week.On the premise of strictly controlling additional variables such as group leaders and time,quasi-experimental design was used to verify the effectiveness of the group assistant scheme.The results are as follows:1.The Grade Six students in rural primary schools have lower requirements,higher test anxiety and medium learning motivation.Among the students of Grade Four,Five,Six in primary school,the Grade Six students in rural primary school havethe weakest learning motivation and the heaviest test anxiety.The specific data are as follows: 61.33% of the students are anxious about examinations,30.33% are equipped with achievement motivation,36% are weak in their own responsibility,and 31% are low in requirements.2.There is no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in the level of pre-test learning motivation and the achievement of three subjects.3.The post-test and three-month follow-up measurements of the experimental group members showed that the level of learning motivation and the academic achievement of the three subjects were significantly improved compared with the pre-test.But test anxiety did not increase significantly.4.There was no significant difference in the scores of post-test and pre-test in all dimensions of learning motivation diagnostic test between the control group and the control group.5.There are significant differences between the experimental group and the control group in the level of motivation and achievement of three subjects,but there is no significant difference in test anxiety.The fourth part is discussion.The effects of group counseling on intervention subjects were discussed and analyzed.
