Nowadays, emphasizing on the importance of culture in"TCFL"(teaching Chinese as a foreign language)classroom is no longer a major topic. But,some vital questions remain:which content is appropriate? And which aspect of the culture should be taught in the TCFL classrooms? In order to find an answer to the above questions,we have chosen and adopted San Tzu Ching. We take into account the comprehensive nature of San Tzu Ching, which involves all the aspects of the Chinese culture, among which the story telling is quite typical and representative. There are many types of culture-related teaching materials in New Zealand associated to the Chinese Language Teaching.Nevertheless, they are not adapted to the students'levels. Then, there is still a lack of specific culture-related books available for secondary school students;the main reason is that, there are no culture-related textbooks edited according to the context and the realities of New Zealand for secondary school in the Chinese syllabus.Furthermore,by the time we start this study, teaching materials combining culture, student level and NCEA examination have not yet integrated the Chinese classroom in New Zealand there. In the practical part of this research,we select the traditional values of San Tzu Ching, which still contain a universal significance. From the main story,we make somesmall stories with plain words;the vocabularyand grammar in the story is adapted to the middle school.Furthermore, through a relax teaching method,a variety of games are used forpractice,in order to help the students,to master the language and have a deeper understanding of the culture in the same time.
