Project-based learning is widely used in the field of geography education because of its unique advantages in the field of inquiry-based teaching practice.Project learning links themes with real situations by identifying practical,difficult and challenging project themes,organizes students to carry out activities in groups,explores real problems independently in real life,learns in inquiry,completes project tasks and works,and ultimately achieves learning objectives.The paper adopts literature method,case analysis method and questionnaire survey method.Through literature review,this paper clarifies the related concepts,elements and theoretical basis of project learning.Secondly,project learning cases are designed and implemented in two kinds of classes: new geography teaching and review class in junior high school by case analysis method.Finally,a questionnaire survey is used to compare and analyze the effects of project learning.The findings are as follows: First,project-based learning is suitable for geography disciplines.Guided by the design principles of problem-driven,student-centered,collaborative,authentic,interdisciplinary,platform-building and product-oriented,the characteristics of geography discipline are integrated into the general project learning mode to form three stages of teaching mode: project preparation,project implementation and project evaluation.Secondly,project-based learning can be applied to different types of geography teaching.The new teaching case focuses on the general application process of project-based learning,and verifies the feasibility of the teaching model by case study.It corresponds to the new teaching case,so the teaching case of the project-based learning model review course with the theme of "water resources" is designed,and the review effect is better.Third,the application of project learning in junior high school geography teaching has certain effectiveness.The main manifestations are: project learning helps to change the traditional teaching concepts of teachers and students,to build an open geography classroom,to cultivate the quality of geography discipline,and to form a diversified geographical evaluation system.
