Nowadays,educational reform has penetrated into every aspect of junior middle school teaching,and the primary choice of education is to cultivate students' independent,cooperative and inquiring learning pattern.However,it is found in the survey that the current teachers still pay too much attention to imparting knowledge and ignore the development of students' comprehensive abilities.Project learning,which originated in Europe and the United States,is a new way of learning.Since this concept was introduced into China,it has been widely used in universities,but its application in junior Chinese teaching is still in the exploration stage.This paper mainly studies the theory and practice of project learning.First of all,I review the theoretical literature of project learning,compare the domestic and foreign literature theoretical data,sort out the research status of project learning in China.Then,I apply the project learning theory to the field of basic education after sufficient practical investigation.By comparing the different learning effects between traditional teaching and project learning of the same class,I propose the operational process of project learning activities,make implementation plan and compile the teaching design of junior Chinese learning.Students from two classes of Grade One at W Middle School in Zhengzhou,Henan Province are selected for the project learning practice.I investigate and evaluate the learning quality of these students after finishing this project,and I also study the changes in students' learning situations through comparing the pre-test and the post-test results of the questionnaire.The survey reveals that the implementation of project learning activities conform to the requirements of current Chinese teaching.By participating in project learning activities,students master the method of exploring problems,learn how to teach themselves,increase emotional communication,develop the cooperative ability and also improve interpersonal communication and innovation ability.In summary,it is concluded that project learning can promote students' cooperation ability,boost students' feelings of self-efficacy and cultivate students' interest in learning Chinese.Traditional Chinese teaching focuses on the foundation,while project learning focuses on the process.Only when both methods are used collaboratively in the teaching process can we improve the efficiency of Chinese teaching in middle schools.Therefore,it is of great significance to apply project learning to junior Chinese teaching.
