| The promulgation of the new chemistry curriculum standard for ordinary senior high schools puts forward higher requirements for the compilation of chemistry textbooks for senior high schools, pointing out that chemistry textbooks are an important carrier to cultivate students' core chemistry literacy.Textbook illustration is a crucial component of textbooks.Good illustration design can play a good role in representing and explaining words.Japan's illustration design is well-known in the world, and its high school chemistry textbook is amazing for its exquisite illustration design and skillfull design.Through the comparison and analysis of the illustrations of the current high school chemistry textbooks in the two version, the advantages and disadvantages of the current textbook illustrations in Chinese version are found, thus providing reference opinions for the compilation of textbook illustrations under the new curriculum standard. In this paper, the illustrations of two different version are selected as the research objects, the Japanese version is the 2018 edition of the complete set of high school chemistry textbooks published by Japan's Digital Research Press, and the Chinese version is the current 2007 edition of Luko's complete set of high school chemistry textbooks.Firstly,it analyzes the current research situation of illustrations by using literature review and determines the research framework, namely, comparing and analyzing the illustrations of two different version from both quantitative and qualitative perspectives. After that, combining with text analysis, quantitative analysis is determined to make statistics from six aspects of page distribution, position distribution, presentation form, combination form, content form and function of illustrations.Quantitative analysis is carried out from the physical characteristics of illustrations, the presentation of illustrations, the functional orientation of illustrations, the relevance between illustrations and texts, and the selection of illustrations' materials.Through quantitative analysis,it is found that the average number of illustrations in Japanese version is one more than that in the Chinese version. In terms of position distribution, illustrations in Japanese version are abundant, with the largest number of text illustrations, while the number of column diagrams in Chinese version is equivalent to the number of text illustrations. In terms of presentation forms, the illustrations in Japanese version are richer than those in Chinese version, fully exploiting the expression functions of various presentation types. In terms of combination forms, the number of combination diagrams in Japanese version is less than that in Chinese version, but the combination forms in Japanese version are rich and varied. In terms of content form, the eight kinds of illustrations in Japanese version are higher than those in Chinese version.,namely, the chemical physical object diagram, the experimental operation diagram, the chemical conceptual diagram, the chemical principle diagram, the change process diagram, the knowledge diagram, the knowledge table and the natural diagram,In terms of illustration function, the representation diagram and decoration diagram in the Chinese version is higher than that in the Japanese version, while the explanation diagram and organization diagram in the Japanese version is higher than that in the Chinese version.Through qualitative analysis,it is found that the illustrations in Japanese version are of various typesetting and exquisite design;rich in forms of expression and pay attention to detail processing;make good use of knowledge structure charts to integrate the connections between knowledge in multiple dimensions;have high degree of integration of pictures and texts;material selection conforms to students' perspective and keeps pace with the changes of the times, and have rich and diverse column icons. The Chinese textbook has a single graphic layout,a lack of aesthetic design in illustration design and monotonous expression form,a single information carrying capacity,a low degree of graphic integration, the selection of materials far from the perspective of students and the lag of the times. This study synthesizes the conclusions of quantitative and qualitative analysis of the illustrations in the current two editions of textbooks in China and Japan, and provides the following suggestions for the compilation of illustrations in the new edition of textbooks in China: flexible graphic layout mode and improve the presentation effect of illustrations;enrich the combination of illustrations and pay attention to the detailed design of illustrations.enhance the awareness of using illustrations to integrate multi-dimensional information;improve the degree of image-text fusion in all aspects;Material selection conforms to students' perspective and keeps pace with the changes of the times. |
