Novel is a literary form with great charming.Readers can be attracted by its charm or touched by its thought without any theoretical knowledge.It is a good way to develop students' reading,speaking and writing skills by novel teaching.It can also help them find the beauty of a novel.But in the actual teaching process,there are so many problems in novel teaching contents.As a result,the novel can't make the best of its functions.The research of this paper focuses on novel teaching contents in junior middle school in a view of narratology.The paper divides into five parts.Introduction explains genesis and meaning of this research.The study of novel teaching,narratology and the application of narratology in novel teaching will also be teased out in this part.And the introduction summarizes the research methods and ideas of this paper.Last but not least,it defines a notion to the novels and Chinese course's contents that mentioned in this research.Chapter One analyzes the situation of the selected works of novels in junior middle school by combing and classifying the choosen novels in the state uniform textbooks.And the situation of the novel teaching contents in junior middle school will also be analyzed through cases in order to find out the flaws that existed in the textbooks and the causes led to them.Chapter Two teases out the theory of narratology from both story system and discourse system of novels,and expounds the theory of narratology according to the teaching and learning needs of the novel teaching in junior middle school.Chapter Three explores the constructing strategy of Chinese teaching contents in junior middle school under the view of narratology,combined with educational practice.It will also inspire our teachers to update the interpretive method of stories and focus on the narration mode of novels when they are teaching.Chapter Four merges and sorts the selected works of novels in the state uniform textbooks of junior middle school,and determines the core teaching contents of plot novels,character novels and spiritual novels by using the inspiration that narrative angles,narrative time and narrative discourse exerted on novel teaching.The research of this paper is not going to completely negate the teachers' analyses of the novel's characters,plots,themes and settings,but to negate the labeling and mechanized analyses that aimed at getting a result.So the concept of narratology has been introduced in this paper,trying to update our junior middle school teachers' teaching ideas.Hope this paper may enlighten our teachers to pay more attention to narrative,the process and skills of characterization,the artistic charm of plot,the deepest feelings inside characters and the emotional contents in environmental description when they are teaching.
