Novel together with poetry,prose,classical Chinese makes up the main content of high school Chinese teaching,which is not only significant for fulfilling high school language curriculum goals,but also helps to students enrich their emotional experience,deepen their understanding of society and life.This paper is divided into three chapters besides the introduction part.The first chapter discusses novel reading teaching in high school from the perspective of students and teachers in the form of questionnaires and classroom observations.From questionnaires and classroom observations,we find that the efficiency of novel reading teaching in current high school is low and students are not interested in such teaching style at all,which causes the novel reading teaching floats on the surface.The questions of current classroom novel teaching can be listed as follows.First,we interpret the novel text from a one-dimensional angle.Second,current classroom novel teaching has stayed away from the nature of appreciating Chinese language,thus losing the charm of learning novel.Third,the mode current classroom novel teaching is increasingly becoming fixed.The reason why students attach little importance to novel reading is that they read without the guidance of teacher.What's more,teacher has little knowledge on how to teach and appreciate novel.Among the reasons teachers is the main one.The second chapter introduces the theory of narrator,narrative perspective,narrative time sequence,narrative rhythm and so on,which will also discuss its positive significance in the comprehensive understanding of the content of the novel so that the content of novel teaching can be enriched and the teaching mode of novel can be changed.The third chapter mainly discusses the practical application of narratology-related theories in the compulsory textbooks of the Jiangsu Education Publishing House.We have to make a new interpretation of specific texts,redesign teaching content,and change teaching strategies,which has a significant teaching effect.This not only stimulates students' interest in reading novels,but also greatly enhances students' enthusiasm for learning Chinese and improves their academic performance.When applying narratological theory,it is also necessary to pay attention to some problems,such as the appropriateness,the integration with the traditional model,and so on.
