With the further development and deepening of the reform of new curriculum teaching in the 21 st century,new curriculum also puts forward higher requirements to all teachers.One of the core goals and tasks of the reform of new curriculum teaching is the change of students' learning styles.The concept of participatory teaching method is to emphasize the respect between teachers and students,the active participation of students in the process and practice of class teaching,the habit of autonomous learning,the ability to participate in activities,and the ability to comprehensively use basic knowledge in order to accumulate theoretical knowledge,master motor skills,and innovate learning methods in a tolerant and democratic educational environment.The participatory teaching method fully adapts to the requirements and core concepts of the new curriculum teaching reform.Compared with the traditional class teaching method in China,it realizes the way of class teaching content presentation,students' learning activities,and the process and practice of class teaching,as well as a change in the way teachers and students interact.The application of the participatory teaching method to the practice of table tennis in colleges and universities can effectively improve the teaching quality of table tennis courses,enable students to better participate in table tennis,and cultivate teachers and students to take an active part in the awareness and ability of independent inquiry and harmonious cooperation with others,so as to better guide students to master the knowledge and skills of table tennis and establish students' lifelong sports awareness.Based on the previous experience,this paper uses theoretical knowledge as the cornerstone to make an experimental comparison of quality in participatory teaching methods and traditional teaching methods in college table tennis courses through the methods of literature collection,questionnaire surveys,teaching experiments,mathematical statistics,and logical analysis.In order to explore the application effect of participatory teaching method in college table tennis classroom teaching via comparing with the differences between the two groups of students in the four aspects,namely,physical fitness,special skills,physical exercise attitude,and sports learning interest.The research results are as follows:(1)as for improving students' physical quality,there is no significant difference between the implementation of participatory teaching method and other general teaching methods in general table tennis course of physical education colleges.(2)with regards to improve students' specific skill of table tennis,the implementation of participatory teaching method manifests great difference from other general teaching methods in general table tennis course of physical education colleges.(3)In terms of the attitude of physical exercise among students,the participatory teaching method can engender positive influence in general table tennis course of physical education colleges.(4)the participatory teaching method is able to remarkably improve students' interest on sports study in general table tennis course of physical education colleges.This study confirms the positive effect of participatory teaching methods on students' special skills,physical exercise attitude and interest in sports learning.The vigorous promotion of the application of participatory teaching methods in physical education class teaching in colleges and universities will help to comprehensively promote the educational quality.
