Reading is an important way for teachers to achieve professional development.Teachers' reading can not only broaden their knowledge horizon,but also improve their teaching level and promote their professional development.Based on the field survey of Y Junior High School in Huaibei city,Anhui province,this study used the methods of literature research,questionnaire survey and interview method to understand and analyze the reading status of teachers in urban middle schools,found the existing problems in teachers' reading,and proposed improvement strategies and suggestions.This paper firstly summarizes the contents and methods of teachers' reading and the relationship between teachers' reading and professional development through literature research,defines the concepts of teachers' reading and teacher professional development,and expounds the background of the problem from the perspective of the value and significance of reading,as well as the significance,methods and ideas of the research.And then through the questionnaire investigation,interview method were investigated about the present situation of urban junior high school teachers,from teachers' self reading,reading methods,performance and application of knowledge of reading,reading four dimensions to analyze the status of teachers,have found the city junior high school teachers reading fragmentation,digital,utilitarian,superficial,smaller reading quantity,etc,and analyze the cause of the problem.Finally,based on the investigation and analysis of the existing problems in teachers' reading,the author proposes some reading strategies to promote teachers' professional development,including attaching importance to classical reading,strengthening in-depth reading and improving the motivation of reading,etc.
