This study explore the characteristic of different competence-level teachers on implicit theories of personality and false memory by two experiment.Experiment 1 was investigated the relationship between teacher competence and implicit theories of personality by Teacher Competence Questionnaire and Single Category Implicit Association Test(SC-IAT).The words of personality traits are composed by means of clustering of personality traits by Cui(2004)and attributive words are investigated by open-ended questionnaires.Let subjects write done 6 words representing change and steady respectively.We assumed compatible task is that the words of personality traits are connected to the words of “malleable”and incompatible task is that the words of personality traits are linked to the words of “static”.Experiment 2 is based on DRM paradigm and selected 10 lists of Roediger-McDermott(1995),a list of thematically related 120 words that are all related to a critical nonpresented 10 lures are presented to the participants,and then followed by recognition test including 10 critical words,20 unrelated words and 30 new words.The subjects need to be judged the word is “old”(F)or “new”(J),if the word is “old”,they need to estimated their feeling is “remember” or”know”or”guess” further.The design of the experiment was a 2(Teacher Competence:Higher level;Low level)×3(term types :learning words,nonrelated words,critical words)mixed factorial that included the between-subjects variables of teacher competence and the within-subject variable of term type.The results indicated:(1)The reaction time of higher-level teachers in incompatible task was mostly higher than compatible task;the reaction time of lower-level teacher is not significant.Thehigher-level teachers hold that “the nature of people's personalities” is dynamic and malleable significantly,and lower-level teachers taking a more neutral stance on this.(2)The main effect of teacher competence was significant,false recognition of lures of higher-level teachers was lower than lower-level teachers.The correct reaction time of lures of higher-level teachers is longer than lower-level teachers.(3)The amount of erroneous judgement of ordinary teachers was higher than higher-level teachers,obviously,the amount of ”remember”of the higher-level teachers is fewer and the amount of “guess” more than ordinary teachers.(4)higher-level teachers formed memory-based judgement and lower-levelteachers formed on-line judgement.
