In 2007,the International Council of Museums redefined the concept of museum by ranking Education over Research as the top priority amongst its numerous functions.Museums have hence increased the resources invested in education sectors,specifically for kids,and enriched the forms and contents of the resources available.Meanwhile,limitations in campus resources are making schools increasingly unsatisfactory in providing sufficient Art education for students.‘Standards for Compulsory Education Art Courses(2011 edition)'and‘ General High School Art Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition)'stressed the important of further explore extra curriculum resources.Therefore,museums remain a potentially rich resource ready to be used.The author found elementary and junior middle schools in Jinan seldom interact with local museums and art teachers failed to apply the abundant resources to their advantage.Student study group,with its flexibility in time and resource selection,could become a perfect bridge set between traditional school classes and museum education.It is difficult to apply typical classroom setting to the museum education,but student study groups can act as perfect supplement to amend for this deficiencies.Starting with student study group,it is an opportunity for museum,with its abundant resources,to increase the students ‘appreciation and their comprehensive literacy for art as well as forming ‘museum concept' which make them permanent audience for the museums.The paper is divided into five sections.Section one is the Abstract.It defines the scope of the paper and relevant terms and concepts.The section then provides a discussion on the content and the significance of the research.The section concluded with a comparison study on current domestic and foreign research status,which offers a basis for later work.Section two is a survey on current situation.A complimentary survey has been conducted to the extent of their usage of museum resources.A separate interview was conducted to a staff inLevel one provincial museum to gain a better insight to the opinions on the collaboration between schools and museums as well as the current degree of this collaboration.The section is concluded with a current status analysis on current usage of museum resources which provides quantitative support to the design and implementation of museum resource application for art student groups.Section three is specifically tailored for ‘art student study group activities based museum resources'.From experiences learnt from international theories analysis,a theoretical framework for study group activities has been constructed.It is followed by the ideological basis for group activities,contents and process of implementation.Section four is the core of the paper.It is the research project on museum resources art student group design and application study.With themes ‘Original Exploration of the Museum'and ‘Shiny Bronze Culture' as examples,the section analyzed and provided a comprehensive summary,which offers a direct and reliable supporting evidence for the teaching in the relevant fields.Section five is the comment and reflections on the collaboration between art study groups and museums.By analyzing the outcome of the activities,the present flaws and issues were raised to eventually provide a method and idea for art teachers and relevant researchers.
